just curious as to what others do.... i have found that if i eat anything pre workout i get horrible side cramps and feel sick. so i go on an empty stomach (except when lifitng i drink 120z water mixed with my creatin supplement). and then eat a protein and a carb post workout. what do you do?

also i have heard that if you dont eat something or drink at least a protein shake before lifting you are just burning muscle (being counterproductive) any thoughts on this?

YOU ALL ARE AMAZING!! HAVE A GOOD FRIDAY!!

How long before your workout do you eat? I usually do at least a half hr or an hour before I workout. Otherwise, I feel sick. Also, I'd try eating different things to see how they effect me. And you might need to up your water intake.

Usually, after a workout, I try to eat a banana or something. Then, go on making the next meal I have. Chocolate Milk might be better in your favor than a supplement, it has a higher mix of protein and carbs that your body will need to recover properly after a workout.

That's not true at all, at least from the sources I've been reading. Your body has stores of fat that it usually goes to first before the muscle. However, if you eat way below what your body needs to run on a regular basis, and workout intensely, then that is true. There's a lot of sciency mumbo jumbo I could spout but thats the clear-ish cut version of that.

I just eat an apple or some oatmeal for pre workout carbs, plus my No Xplode, I dont think entire meals are a good idea pre workout

If I don't eat I feel sick and if I eat too much I feel sick... I have to have something small...the only thing that works for me before a work out is a piece of toast with peanut butter. After working out I usually have a protein shake made with almond milk and sometimes fruit.

i get up at 7:30 get me and the kids ready and take them to school. i workout from 8:30-9:30 and then come home and eat my breakfest
  • if you can make it through your workout without eaing and prefer not to then don't. Sometimes I eat before, if I'm working out mid-day, other times I go on empty. As long as you can give it 150% then you're good!

I work out in the morning and usually only have my coffee before. I just make sure I hit my macros during the day and do not worry about timing.

As long as you can wait at least 2 hours before working out it shouldn't be a problem. You could also try having a light snack (ie. a spoonful or two of peanut butter) before you workout. Either way, it's a personal preference and how comfortable you feel.

I pretty much eat my whole breakfast in the morning. I get up and take my thyroid pill then half hour later eat breakfast and an hour later workout. I know it seems like a pain in the rear end but if I don't eat I feel dizzy, lightheaded and nauseous. I tend to have something after I workout as well. Usually a shake.

Pre workout I'll either have a banana, a cup of applesauce or 4 ounces of fruit juice.

After working out I'll have a homemade smoothie consisting of greek yogurt, protein powder, fruit, almond milk and ground flax (with oats added sometimes).

Not good to workout with a full or empty stomach.

It is important to fuel your workout sessions, before and after.
