I cannot seem to get this thing right. One minute I'm doing pretty good and then the next I get so tired of having to measure everything that I fall off track and just eat whatever. How can I get this thing right. Any suggestions?

Do you have the mobile app? I find it easier to remember to log when it is always available. Also I found my focus is to track no matter what. I sometimes have trouble making the best food choices but I have commited myself to track everything even if I am not happy with the food choices I have made.
So far just knowing I must track it is keeping me from becoming mindless and making poor choices to start with. I think for me at least when only good food choices become the sole focus, one slip up makes me feel as though I have failed. Promising to track the food is less difficult so I only feel as though I let myself down if I stop tracking. I am making my goal 365 days of tracking. So far so good and I am losing as a result.0 -
Start taking picture of everything you eat. Than... before go to bed, add to your file.0

That's a neat idea!
It can be a mental block for sure... there's an internal resistance to tracking everything. It feels tedious. In my experience, though, it's the ONLY way to lose weight sensibly and keep it off. Ask anyone who has done it...
You have to embrace it, I think. Make you your hobby.0 -
It gets easier with time.. MFP remembers what you eat, do you can say you had leftovers or the same thing as last week and its not too much work!
It gets better with time though.. Just stick with it! And make sure you have friends on here to motivate you! Feel free to add me0 -
It takes a while to change completely. If you think of it as a "diet", that may be part of the problem. Allow yourself the foods you love, in moderation. If you want a burger, get a great recipe and make it yourself, working it in to your daily calories. The mobile app is what helped me... I love the scanning barcode option! Don't take out what you love and put in stuff you hate just for the sake of "dieting"! I learned that way that I hate avocado, and wasted a whole bunch of money because it was supposed to be "good" for you... and Baby Steps0

Don't beat yourself up. This makes you more depress and then you will eat more. Just take one day at a time. Start again tomorrow. I try to eat foods that are already in portions and I eat the same thing for breakfast and lunch. I may switch between two different breakfasts and two different lunches. On Sundays, I try to cut up my veggies, make my cooked oatmeal and put in containers, get my fruits and snacks together, etc. It makes it easier for my. I had a staff meeting today and I went crazy with the sesame seed trail mix. It was sooo good. I had to do some extra walking today to gain some calories. I am okay with that. I know there will be days that I might indulge, but I know I will have to workout a little more. Good luck. Hang in there!0
