Hi Everyone,

I have just come back to MFP after a long time being away. I was also thinking of joining WW or Slimming World. I have done WW before and found it useful. Are any of you using the MFP website and also attending a weightloss group?

Not sure of your goals but would a diabetic exchange diet work for you in giving your portions based on the exchanges to take in at each meal?
That is what I am doing and I have been quite pleased. I found counting points etc too confusing and I know that I would not continue counting points for the rest of my life. i wanted an approach that I could follow forever.

I wanted to follow Canada's Food Guide and learn portion control. The USA is similar and have a base of 1200 calories per day like this one at:

    http://www.livestrong.com/article/299462-1200-calorie-exchange-list/

    Sample diet at http://www.livestrong.com/article/459858-1200-ada-calorie-diabetic-diet/

I average about 1350 calories a day with six almonds if I feel the need or a piece of cheese for an extra snack. I walk our dog 2.5 miles a day for exercise and garden.
I have been losing about 1 lb and maybe a little more a week, feel satisfied and it fits with my DH's food intake on our meal planning.
I have found that I must eat protein, 1/2 cup starch and a fruit or dairy at each meal and focus on carb intake with all the salad that I want.
This is a diet that I can live with forever. i record everything that crosses my lips on MFP and do not need to go out to meetings.
