Tonight a friend of mine is coming over for some much needed time away from our kids. We plan on watching some movies and playing video games. Hee hee can't wait to sell her soul to Skyrim.....
Anyways.....
What are some healthy snack ideas? She is health concious as well. She prefers not to eat meat most days so nothing with meat if possible.

vegetables with dip! I made it for a party last week and it was a hit! Make slices of vegetables like cucumber, carrots and peppers. Add a dip. I made a cucumber-yoghurt dressing (just 1/2 a cucumber and around 150 ml greek yoghurt) and that's it!0

Grilled kabobs, Chickekn, Veggie and Shrimp or all good.0

Cucumber sandwiches on wheat (have a low cal, low fat recipe somewhere, but you can probably also find online).
Tomato anything. Low in calls, pleasant taste. Appetizer = Tomato slice (1 cal) low fat cheese (15 cal - cut the cheese in advance so you know your portions) and mini rice cakes (7 cals) or quartered full size rice cake (9 cals) is pretty awesome. If you are OK with salt, you can even put the tomato on the mini cheddar rice cakes (7.8 cals), and maybe top with a little basil or mint (or whatever you like with your tomato.
Mini-carrots for crunching.
If you are going for dinner, I love me some grilled or baked portabello mushrooms (25 - 50 cals depending on size), with swiss or whatever cheese (80 cals) on a whole wheat bun (100 - 150 cals) with horseradish sauce (homemade, 10 cals serving) and a size of whatever you like. I usually prefer some special k chips (27 @ 110 cals) so I feel like I'm cheating, but I'm not (but I really am because they have zippo nutritional value) or some banana chips (not certain cals off top of head).
Another thought, all white meat turkey hot dogs (45 cals each dog) cooked in some low sugar bar-b-que sauce (replaces those mini-sausages). Put out some whole wheat low cal crackers or bread rounds and yum!!
Good luck!!0 -
Popcorn, carrots, celery, pretzels, sliced apples... (maybe with peanut butter)? Veggie trays are always a good idea but other than that I can't really think of anything super easy.0

Veggies and slices of pita with hummus for dip. Hummus is way healthier than most dips and super yummy! I prefer Sabra (or homemade). Also fruit salad or kabobs. Kids might like Veggie Straws, Snap Pea Crisps, slices of watermelon.0

I like healthy seven layer mexican dip, homemade guacamole with extra tomatoes to lighten up on calories. Watermelon and berries, sabra hummus and veggies.0

My mom came over for a girly movie night the other day and we ate the most delicious snacks. I had a tray of cut, raw veggies with hummus dip, and a second of cut, fresh fruit. I also made Spanish tortilla (similar to a frittata) with spinach and tomatoes instead of potatoes and cut it into slices. In Spain it's mainly served room temp. in bite sized portions skewered with toothpicks. As a treat we had dark chocolate dipped frozen bananas.0

Fruits and veggies with homemade dip
veggie dip: 1/4 c nonfat greek yogurt, garlic salt + dill weed to taste
fruit dip: blend 1/4 cup frozen yogurt, 1 oz ff cream cheese, 1 tsp vanilla, splenda (# of packets will depend on how sweet you want it)0 -
banana coated with plain yogurt for a tasty frozen treat
agree with the sliced veggie, i make a cucumber sauce/dip that was good with low fat yogurt and cilantro mixed in, super low cal with shredded cucumber.
unsalted popcorn
plain yogurt with protein powder mixed in (like chocolate or another flavor), almost like eating a custard or pudding0 -
Buffalo chicken lettuce wraps!

There are a TON of other healthy, delicious recipe ideas on that website too.0 -
Meatless nachos. Sooo good.0

Cut up fruit and veggies!!!
You could always make popcorn, just plain popcorn, with no toppings on it (so no butter, you can limit the amount of salt if you'd like.)0
