So after going out for drinks last time, saw how many empty calories were in mixed drinks. I was wondering if you all had any suggestions. Or even any at home recipes?

I've found that alcohol and weight loss don't mix well FOR ME. However, I'm also a 22 year old with a social life. Balance is key, and I'm definitely working on finding it. When I'm doing an all day drink-a-thon type deal (8 hours at the beach, for example) I stick with Mich Ultra, and drink a full glass of water for every beer. IDK why, but that helps me. When I'm out for the night, I get vodka water with a lemon and lime. The other night I drank vodka with the new Red Bull Zero, and it wasn't bad at all. Definitely interested to see what other ideas people on here have, though!!0

I tend to like a gin fizz (because it's 1940 and the end of the Raj) - it's basically a G&T but fresher, and if you use fresh lemons and you're having to squeeze them... either you stop before you're catatonic or you end up cleaning the kitchen with a hangover.
Red wine's probably the best for getting nicely squiffy on not all too many calories, unless you go to vodka and low calorie mixers.0 -
I make crystal light drinks and then mix my drinks into it. It's calorie and sugar free0

I like to but flavored vodka mixed into a similar flavored sparkling water drink. I use the zero calorie "Cascade Ice" Drinks. They come in so many flavors and then I just have to count the calories of the alcohol! Definitely easiest way for me to keep track of the calories.
I also plan out the day after drinking here on MFP. I put in foods that I know I'll be craving, but I portion it and make sure it's still within my calorie range
I find planning ahead REALLLLLLLY helps!0 -
I'd have to second the vodka w/some low cal mixer options as a good bet, if for no other reason than the fact that the higher alcohol content in spirits means you put less in your face hole. The huge downfall with beer and wine coolers is that people often consume a bunch of them at a party, as opposed to a few mixed drinks. Typical bloody mary contains ~120 calories, and the same amount of alcohol as two beers (which can run anywhere from 80 to 250 calories per beer).
Here's a nifty site that actually has a searchable list of cocktail calories:
