Shakeology- what are everyone's opinions

Ok, so my husband does beachbody's shakeology to make sure he gets all his nutrition in. He swears by this stuff. He says he has never felt better has energy, feels like he has eaten enough every day etc. I'm hesitant to start doing it consistently cause while counting calories it isn't something that tastes the best to me and I could be using those calories else where.
Let me know if you have used the stuff and how it affected you.

Why not just eat real food? Does your friend plan on drinking shakeology for the rest of their life? You should be making choices that are sustainable long term. Think healthy life change, not diet.0

It's a great meal replacement if you don't mind paying everyone in the upline of who sold it to you. Personally, I don't see how it can be worth 2.50 more per serving than other highly rated MRPs.0

Shakes are for people without teeth.0

I don't know much about shakes and stuff, all I know is that I'd rather eat what I'm eating instead of replacing tasty food with a shake that I'm not into.0

My arms and legs were blown off in the war, and the doctors gave me shakeology. All my limbs grew back, but with twice the muscle mass as the originals. But it has a weird aftertaste, so I don't really recommend it.0

Waste of money in my opinion. If you do insist on going the shake route, there are much cheaper alternatives that will help give the same results. It's a fad.0

If it doesn't taste good why do you want to use it? I used to drink slimfast and by week 4 I literally couldn't get it down my throught, I would gag. Sounds like that might happen to you if already don't like the taste.0

Not necessary when you can create your own0

Thanks for all the responses there is one that I like. The only reason I would drink a shake is to make sure my body gets what it needs everyday while maintaining a healthy lifestyle.0

I've met a lot of great people that have gotten some great things out of it, the price is really the only thing stopping me. The one's I know that make it a lifestyle, mix berries, and have lots of recipes, combining real food with the shakeology. All the people I know that it works for, work out heavily and eat right in all their other meals, so who's to say wether the shakeology is working, when you know those other things cause weightloss, and increase in energy and all the positive stuff. If you can afford it at this time and it will help you meet your current goals, than at the very least I don't see any harm in it. Wow, that's a lot of advice from someone who doesn't use the stuff, lol. I guess I just wanted to play too.0

I used to be a beachbody coach and the main reason I stopped was because shakeology never worked for me. It did make me feel full as I first started drinking it, but as the weeks progressed I started to feel like I needed more. It also didn't sit well in my stomach, at all. I think you could take a multivitamin rather than spending $90 a bag for that stuff. Eat a variety of healthy, fresh food and that will beat any "miracle shake."0

Overpaying for "hyped" up shake isn't worth it.

This is what a decent multivitamin is for.0 -

The Skinny:
Depends on why you want to use them: I'll give you an example of why they are potentially good and healthy option.
Without getting into a long discussion of metabolism, glycogen synthesis - energy stores, muscle building etc.....
If you body build or do a lot of aerobic activity (over 90 minutes at a time) and / or if you plan to do more exercise or activity the same day...then replacing energy stores (glycogen) is important. Your liver stores about 100 grams of glycogen - used for power and to help rebuild muscle - and you burn approximately 1 gram of glycogen a minute doing strenuous aerobic activity.
Resoration of glycogen stores work best when insulin levels are fairly constant - glycogen synthesis rates remain most efficient - and studies show that replentishing your body with a load of carbs/protein within 30 minutes to 1 hour after strenuous exercise is helpful in most efficiently restoring glycogen.
A mix of solid protein and liquid is recommended again to keep absorption occuring over tme and continue glycogen level restoration.
If you go right home from the gym and eat protein that's great. But for many that's not feasible. So taking protein shakes to the gym helps get protein at a time you need it. In addition, the higher protein intake you have, in general, the high fat intake and cholesterol intake. Protein shakes (some of them) have little to no cholesterol. (ex Jay Robb). Jay Robb has no cholesterol, no sugar (stevia), and virtually no carbs and zero fat. Try getting that from beef, chicken, or lean turkey...so again, getting protein without the fat and cholesterol is a good reason to use Whey Shakes. It's not required...but a nice option. Try mixing it with unsweetened almond milk 1/2 cup - 20 cals - zero sugar - and ice - and frozen fruit for a real treat

This is one of those posts that people seem to always get into arguments about the price, nutrition, etc. in. To answer the question I love Shakeology. I didn't use it while losing, I use it while maintaining. I love the taste with it in the blender and ice0

I became a Beachbody Coach because of the benefits I got from Shakeology. Personally, it has change my life and plenty of my friends, family members, clients and customers have benefited from it. Yes, there are other shakes out there, and plenty are less expensive, but none has the quality and ingredients that Shakeology has. I've done quite a bit of research before I committed to it. Because of my training routine, I need to eat at least 3500 to 4000 cals a day and I have to add supplements. I still drink protien drinks too. So it really depends on your personal goals and lifestyle. I'm a real estate professional, and certified trainer, and there is no way I can get all the right meals to equal what's in Shakeology. And if you really look at today's food supply, it is subpar compared to many years ago. so even if it's not Shakeology, I think the average person that is looking to improve their health need to look closely at what their supplements contain. Go with what works for you. I personally plan on taking it for the rest of my life, just like I plan on eating clean and exercising for the rest of my life.0

Agreed 100%0 -
I have a 30 day supply and love the flavor. I use it more often for snacks because I prefer to chew my meals. But I also pour it in popsickle trays for delish treats.
I don,t use mine everyday and can't really offer anything about energy ... etc.0 -
Expensive way to be hungry.
I occasionally want a green smoothie for breakfast, but they are so cheap and easy to make, I would argue it's not worth it to pay shakeology's premium prices..0 -
In my opinion, if you need a shake to provide you with nutrition, you're not eating the right foods.0
