Because of weight fluctuations, it's best not to weigh yourself more frequently than once per week.

They say a once-per-week weigh-in is plenty. Pick a day and just step on the scale that day, since your weight can flux throughout the week. That's what they say to do, but I'm more of a on-the-scale-each-AM kind of girl. I find it motivating. Do what works for you!

Most people- once a week in the morning after bathroom. I scaled back to once a month until lately I started jumping on every couple of days. But last week I put it away an will not look at it for another 3 weeks!
  • For me, once a week.

I haven't weighed since I started working out with my trainer 3 months ago. She will weigh and measure me soon.

I get very discouraged when I get on the scale too often. I weigh once a month at Curves. Once in a while I will weigh in the middle of the month, too.

Well, I weigh myself every day, but I'm still pretty new, so I'm getting good results from weighing every day. Once I'm more used to tracking my calories and my weigh loss slows down, I will try to stick to weighing once a week so I don't get discouraged. I know a lot of people only weigh once a month, but right now I need more encouragement than that so I can keep going on the right path.

I have to weigh myself everyday. It keeps me accountable. I have those moods sometimes where I could eat anything. When I see the results of that the very next day it whips me into shape. I know that weight fluctuates, but even so, seeing the scale go up after all the hard work is never fun.

At first I weighed myself pretty much every two weeks.

We bought a scale on Sunday, I'm not sure it was a good idea but we did. For about 48 hours I jumped on it every time I saw it because I was curious about the weight fluctiations.

Now that I'm passed that I'll probably go back to once every two weeks.

Everyone is different and they respond differently to what the numbers tell them, so there is no right answer for everyone.

I am very data-intensive, so when I started, I was very careful about weighing every day because I wanted to keep a detailed graph and see what I could learn about my body and my program. After about six months, I backed off because I had pretty much learned what I wanted.

One thing I would say is that if you are going to weigh yourself every day, be prepared for a lot of fluctuations and don't do it if you are going to react to every little change. My weight tended to go in cycles, almost like little arcs. Every time I reached a new low, I would bounce back up a little for a couple of days, then head back down again. Or stay at a plateau for several days, then drop for 2-3 days in a row.

Especially if you are exercising, we experience a lot of fluid shifts and other short term changes. At least for me, I also noticed that the results of a particular day (good or bad) often took more than one day to show up or go away.

In my opinion it never makes a different on when I weighed myself. I like to weigh myself each day so I can see well yesterday I should not have ate that much or because of yesterdays workout I am down. I love to jump on when I first wake up before I get into the shower...
Welcome to the site it is wonderful!
    Good Luck!

I believe that once a week probably is best for most but I have to agree with these two ladies. I have a tendancy to go into denial if I dont watch the scale closely.

I would say that once a week at most.

Weighing yourself every day will not accurately reflect how well you did the day before, so using that for motivation will just be setting yourself up for dissapointment. As others have said, your weight will fluctuate a few lbs either way each day. Do it once a week at the same time, with the same amount of clothes on :blushing:

Don't become too dependent on the scale. There are much better ways to measure your results. I know it is hard not to become obsessed with what the scales says but remember that it is a just a number. I still weigh myself but no more than once ever other week and I like to focus more on my measurements and how I feel (energy levels, strength, stress levels, etc). I also like to pick a goal (currently to do a 1/2 marathon in Oct) and track my progress towards that goal.

    Good luck :flowerforyou:

    What I should, or what I do??

I TRY to weigh 1 x a week. Some ppl say Thurs is good because the sodium from our weekend mistakes is gone, and we have eaten well for 3 days.

Now, off to hide my scale:glasses:

I weigh once a week. If I do it more than that, I end up getting bummed if I'm not losing what I *think* I should be losing. If I get bummed, I get unmotivated. So, what's best for me is once a week. Now that doesn't mean I don't cheat once in a while, but I try not to.

Also, I weigh every week around the same time. I try to do it monday morning, as soon as I get up from bed, after my bathroom time, and before my shower.

I totally know what you mean about seeing the new low and then it going back up for a bit. My body seems to go through the same thing. And, yes, the results of a particular good/bad day always take a couple days to see the results. Also, I'm almost always a bit heavier the next day after a good work out!
