Hi Im 50 and have been over wieght since the birth of my daughter at age 35. I really need to loose for my health, and mental state of mind I have heart problems and this wieght is too much on my heart. I have no confidince anymore cause I cant do anything. I cant do anything without feeling like I cant get any air and hurting so bad I have to sit down. My grandchildren I want to play with them be able to lift them. , My childern I want to go do things with them and not have to keep sitting down or staying in the car cause I cant do the walking. I do not have a suport system at home they eat what every they want which is junk and fast food. I 'm hoping to get what I need here at this site to help and encourage. I dont have the money to join a gym or buy the health foods. I feel stuck and at this rate I will die young

Welcome Zandi, you've come to the right place! Everyone here is great and will be able to help you know that you can do what you need to to get yourself happy and we're you need to be health wise! And healthy foods aren't expensive except if you buy them premade. A pound of apples is most of the time cheaper than a bag of potatoe chips!! If you like to cook the Recipe area is a great way to find some terrific delicious recipes and I bet you anything your family is gonna be wanting to eat what your eating when they see it! Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to, AND, it'll "almost" be easy doing it!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off! :noway:
Don't go making the mistake that if you have LOTS of numbers left at the end of the day that you'll lose even faster, because that DOESN'T happen. Feel free to read any info about the site in the "help" section at the top of the home page. And also, under "all topics", then "general", and check out the first few threads. They'll really help you understand how MFP works.
Before coming here, I had tried just about EVERYTHING out there, including hypnosis, TWICE, and nothing really worked until MFP!
Also, drink LOTS of water, it REALLY DOES help! :drinker:
As far as exercise goes, it doesn't always have to be awful. For my exercise, I walk almost every day, (weather permitting!) I also dance to a fast oldies CD that my husband made up of all my favorite old songs. (Like "Love Shack", Wild, Wild West", "Mony, Mony", "Footloose", and "Gloria")
It's free, (unlike a gym!) fun, and I can even watch tv at the same time, so I never get bored! :happy:
I also recently aquired the Wii Fit, and jog to that, which is a lot of fun, and easy too!
So, to make a LONG story short, make good food choices, eat in moderation, get some exercise, and you WILL lose the weight that you want to!0 -
Congrats on taking the first BIG step and finding your support system. I'm a firm believer in If you want to change something - you have to measure it - and this site is perfect for that.
This site can be motivating too, so come back often - even if you feel like you are off track. We are all off-track most of the time, and this journey seems to be one of constant course corrections - but that is where real progress is made.
The Apollo journey to the moon was off course most of the time ... and that turned out okay - this can too!

:flowerforyou: Welcome Zandi. I won't say it will be "easy" but I know you can do it with the support and encouragement you find here. There are LOTS of activitys that you can do without spending any money, or darkening the door of any gym. After all, "Exercise" is just activity that you do repeatedly, Right?
