I haven't signed up for a race yet, I'm not quite ready for public running (I use a treadmill in my basement). I am working on speed next, keeping it at 30 min runs. I'm hopeful it will help me keep my weight loss moving, and I'll be "race ready" in another 6 months or so

I know what you mean about the public running. I really thought people would totally be judging the fat girl running. So I started in a park with a nature trail (ie away from a lot of people and traffic). No one pointed and laughed. I'll even run on the sidewalks now..in full view of traffic!

I totally understand as I did c25k on my treadmill starting on 1/1/2012. Took my running outside a couple weeks ago. I go real early in the AM and had to back up to week 6 for 1 week as it is more difficult. Now working towards a charity 5k run/walk on June 9th. I know I will not be first, nor will I be last. I find pacing the hardest to get down so I do not start out to fast & burn myself out, but it is getting better. Do not be afraid to take it outside, just remember you are lapping anyone sitting on the couch.:flowerforyou:

Great job! I actually just started this one, I was able to start with week 2 thankfully, and I am so excited to do a 5K! I went to the Ogden Marathon today and cheered for the runners, I want that to be me next year! It was so exciting to see all those people. I am going to be on week 2 day 2 tomorrow, looking forward to my run!

Oh thank you., you have made it sound so real and possible. I am at the end of week 2 and I guess realistically even that is amazing that I am running for 90 secs etc. Congrats on finishing and being able to run for 30 mins, can't wait until I can say that.

    My thoughts EXACTLY!

Great job. Im going to start doing that. I now walk 5K almost daily but havent gotten to any running yet. I too felt the same way, I thought I could never do it and now I no longer need my inhaler while exercising!!!

now I can say I'm on my way to being a real runner.

the minute you laced em up and decided to put one foot in front of the other and then followed through you were a runner. Keep rockin.
