What to do with stomach?

I have 3 kids. They were 9 lbs 12 oz, 10 lbs 1 oz, and 9 lbs 12 oz. Luckily, all 3 were 2 weeks early, otherwise I'd have had 11 lbs babies. The last two were very close together, so I didn't have time to bounce back. I went up to size 14 and while it may not sound huge, on my 5'4" frame, it was huge. Not only that, but I had the giant fold over belly. With the last one, I kept joking that she was down so low that she'd missed the exit and was in my lap. Anyway, she was almost two and I was still looking 6 months pregnant. I have diastasis recti, where the muscles never came back together, but there was still a whole lot of fat there. I started my MFP journey last September with about 32 lbs to lose to my prepregnancy weight. I was a very happy size 8 before kids. At 16 lbs down, I still looked 4-5 months pregnant. To the point that some woman rubbed my belly and asked me when I was due. At 20 lbs down, I noticed the stomach finally getting smaller. I am now at 25 lbs down and it's much smaller. However, there is definitely still fat there, the diastasis is still there, so working out stomach muscles makes it look worse as they tighten on the outside, pushing out everything in the middle. I guess it's to be expected as all the weight I am losing now is coming from the gut region as it's the last place to let go. Anyway, as it comes off, the skin just hangs there and makes it look tons worse. I am also now a size 8, although still heavier than before kids.
Years ago, I told my mom that when the little one turned 3, I would have the diastasis fixed and have a tummy tuck since the surgeon would already be there. As the date approaches, I realize what a chicken I am. The little one is 2.5. My mom keeps reminding me I said I'd have it fixed. And it would help tremendously with my stomach muscles. The only other cosmetic surgery I ever had was LASIK on my eyes and I've not regretted it once in 13 years since. Still, I am a big chicken and I have kids, so taking time for myself seems a lot right now. Plus, what if something happened to me, would my kids be left motherless just because their mother wanted to look better?
Anyway, I am hoping the last 7 lbs will take care of the majority of the fat left on my belly. Will the skin ever bounce back? I tried the diastasis belts and all that junk, didn't do a thing for me. Is there any hope for this mess I call my stomach?
