How much is too much green tea?

Just curious. I've read different advice. Some people say you need to drink at least 6-8 cups a day to reap the health benefits, while others say 2-3 cups a day is plenty.

I highly enjoy green tea and could easily drink 5+ cups a day and it wouldn't have any effect on my sleep. But I'm just wondering if there's such a thing as 'too much' green tea?

I don't think so. I think it would fall into the same category as too much water. Yes, you can drink too much but it would be a lot. I drink probably close to 8 cups a day if you go by the 6 oz cups for tea (prolly still that much at 8 oz.) and hasn't hurt me one bit. If you like it and it helps you drink my liquids then go for it.

My naturopath told me the other day that the more Green Tea the better as long as it is prepared correctly,
I love green tea and drinks lots of it during the day, it helps with fluid retention at those TOM days, aids my arthritis and weight loss.
The only thing I've found if I drink oodles is a slight laxative affect, no biggie really and I'm talking 10+ cups a day

Just go with the extract if you want the health benefits or drink the 10 or so cups needed if you are into that. Diet wise, green tea has a very small effect - adds about 50kcal or so towards calorie expenditure. I get headaches and nausea if I take green tea extract without caffeine.

Drug interaction wise, green tea is a p-glycoprotein inhibitor. PM me with meds and I can tell you if there are any interactions.
