Anyone who has ran in the Spartan Sprint?

This is my first mud run and first obstacle course ever! I'd wanted to do the Warrior Dash, being that it looked less extreme, but that's around here in the first half of June, and I didn't think I'd be ready. So now I'm training to hopefully run the Spartan Sprint in August.

Just wanted some advice or tips on how to train. Like anything I should make sure I can do before the race? Anything anyone can offer at all would be great!

Thanks

After doing both a Warrior and a Spartan, I would say go ahead and do the June Warrior Dash. The WD is a lot of fun, not very intense, no penalties for noncompleted obstacles, and a great intro to mud/obstacle runs. It really is a blast, especially when done with some friends.

However, if you decide to do the Spartan I would recommend that you trail run with hills as much as possible, do lots of burpees (penalty for noncompleted obstacles), and work on upper body strength. You may also want to wear something that will cover your elbows and knees because mine look like they were attacked by a cheese grater. Spartan sends out a workout of the day and I would recommend that you do them as much as possible in preparation.

    Good luch either way.
