i have a resting heart rate of around 49 which i am always being told is really low, but it can sometimes be as low as 40. When i work out its not uncommon for my hight rate to be as high as 210, is that normal? Generally its around 180-190 but if i run it goes up as high as 210.
Thanks in advance

Hi Lollie,
Heartrate under 50 is very low, and for your age, 210 is also extremely high. I would recommend having a check with your doctor just to make sure everything is allright.
Using the Gulati et al. formula (2010), your max heart rate should be around 206 - (0.88 x 30) = 179.6, and even high intensity exercise at 90% of max should bring your heart rate to around 162.
Always remember that each person is an individual, and there are many ways to calculate maximum HR, and they all give different results.
Best,
M0
