It could be nothing, but you should see your doctor to be checked out.

Dehydration can cause the blood pressure to drop.

Get thyself to the doctor and see what is going on. It might be nothing at all or it could be more serious. Have your doctor give you some guidance.

It could be that with your weight loss and newly exercising self you're hypertension is getting better, and you might not need the BP meds anymore. Definitely see your doctor.

If you just started taking BP pills, you might be overmedicated. Does this happen only after exercising? What about your resting BP rates when not exercising?

Nevertheless, you need to keep your doctor in the loop. Also, take it easy on your heart rate. I know you posted that you have been going over 200. It's just not that necessary. Does it take a lot to push your heart rate that high or does it go that high with minimal effort?

Your regular BP of 138/85 is only slightly elevated, and IMHO you should not be medicated for that level of hypertension. That elevation should be easily managed with lifestyle changes (diet and exercise), without resorting to medication. But, alas, big pharma and doctors want to flock off medication.

Your dizziness and almost fainting is due to the (sudden?) drop in your BP. Sometimes it can be associated with changing of position, such as sitting down, and then getting up quickly (postural hypotension). This is perfectly normal. It can also be associated with hydration status, weightloss, or a number of other factors. Nevertheless, while low, it is still not catastrophic.

See a doctor (maybe considerer seeing a different doc, if yours insists on you being on BP meds with 138/85 mmHg), keep drinking water and monitor your BP.

    Cheers,
    M

I have to agree with post above, 138/85 is borderline, and your exercise and weight loss should bring that down closer to 'normal' limits - unless you have family history of high blood pressure.

I am in a similar position (similar BP readings), and have declined BP meds because I want to work on lifestyle changes first. BP meds are for the rest of your life!

If this is the first time, you could possibly put it down to exhaustion and dehydration - 90 minute hiking is a good effort!

But you need a second opinion on the BP meds, because they really only should be for the worst HBP cases, not for someone who can improve through lifestyle management.
