I am an Old Army Master Fitness Trainer, - new to Water Aerobics, and am designing several personal workouts primarily for me. My research on the internet indicates there is a wide variety of equipment available but after testing some (Water Belles) I am not real impressed. I seem to be getting more benefit from my $3 noodle, so the Question is from those who participate already, What are the minimum items for a good routines you may have done: Aqua Belts? Water Shoes?, Paddles?, Dumbbells?, Noodles? What Else? For me at least my program design is oriented to strength and endurance training with ROM issues on knees, ankles, and back. Target energy use is 300-350 cals every 15 mins. (1200-1400 cals per hour), Thanks in advance for any useful input.

The class I go to only use noodles and the rest is resistance against the water current which we all create by moving in one direction in the pool and quickly changing direction...High repetitions are really effective too - good luck - make sure you choose fun music, that always helps :)

My mother uses webbed gloves to create more resistance. Sorry - that's all I've got for you.

Be discrete. I get kicked out of the pool every time I pull out my noodle.

appreciate it. I heard that from a college that is rehabing her knee after replacement surgery.

I do water aerobics twice a week and swim laps twice a week. During my water aerobics I use web gloves and a noodle. Haven't felt the need for anything else as my body is tired the day after a workout so I know I am getting a good one!

I am new to water aerobics but have found the noodle great, the belt helpful for some of the exercises in the class (our pool is adjustable depth- at the start of the class it is set to about 4.5 feet deep/ 135cm deep) as the class progresses our instructor resets the pool depth to 2 meters deep or about 6.5 feet- we are then wearing the belts for increased buoancy (I think) and it certainly adds to the challenge for some of the abdominal exercises

but I think the noodle and gloves should be enough if you are following your own program
