lets just say april 2011 I seriously woke up one morning and was done being over weight, self consious, and unhappy. I had 3 beatuiful children and a husband who LOVED me for who i was not how big or small i was but i still wasnt happy with myself. So april 2011 I signed up for weight watchers and started walking every night and i mean i walked a lot of miles...they weight just started falling off and the encouraged me so much. I started getting compliments how ppl stated to notice. And i would go try on clothes at my favorite clothing store just to compare the difference and loved having to go down...then winter came and i didnt do much of anything and gained some weight back not much but it was a gain and so i finally told my husband that it was time to sign up for the gym..and i started going daily..and again i started losing weight again and was getting closer and closer to my GOAL WEIGHT. i dont remember what brought me to MFP, but i couldnt be more thankful. I met a lot of inpirational girls on mfp who also kept me going even if they didnt know they were. I had a few on there that were runners and i thought to myself, i could NEVER be a runner...thats way out there. No way could i even tempt it...and i read some running inspirational quotes and thats all it took..lol i download couch to 5k on my phone and just went for it...im the type of girl i have to have to drag someone else to try things. But i did focused on what i wanted and started my couch to 5k...did each week...hurt my knee on week 3 and rested then started again...then i was looking up 5k runs and a friend mention one for may ( this was in april that she mention it to me and i was only on week THREE) and it just stuck to me...SO i signed up for it with a friend who was also a beginner runner. I got to week 6 on couch to 5k and i just ran.....i didnt stop until i got to 3 miles..i couldnt even tell you how excited and accomplished i felt...so couple days later i did it again and ran 3.15 miles.. needless to say I finished on week 6.
So May 20th was my first 5k and i was so sore from a muscle work class that i did days before race day ( bad idea). we got there by 6:30 am..took pictures and let me just say it was a awesome experience..I remember just starting out the run and my running partner was gone.lol left me in the dust but i didnt give up. i ran and ran and ran..hills, heat and all...I finished my FIRST 5k in 33:24 seconds...i was 989th person out of 2,564 people that day...i was in the above 50% line of finished ppl....I would have NEVER thought i would become a runner. I love it and im so thankful for mfp and the girls that even got me thinking about running...I have another 5k in two weeks and im hoping to shorten my time a bit...
All i want to say to those who feel like its a long road ahead and you dont feel like you can get there...YOU CAN! Set small goals and accomplish one at a time..I am 4 lbs away from goal now and its been a long year and 2 months.....find friends who will support you..find someone who will hold you accountable too...its possible..you just have to repeat to yourself that you can and will...and repeat what you want...i have changed so much in the last year. I put myself out there now and do things i would never have thought....OK enough with me!
Whats some of your goals? And how did you come about where you are now? do you have that person/people who encouraged you?? I love meeting new ppl too..=)

Your Story is Awesome. Thank you for sharing. I to downloaded the Couch to 5k app. However, I do not think i am going to start it until i see some weight loss.. I am currently 215 (SW 228) and want to be down at least 30 lbs before i start to put my body through that.

Congratulations! You're totally inspiring. I'm also a mama of three, and after having my last baby 8 weeks ago I decided it was time to get my body/health back. I started eating really well and exercising about 3 weeks ago, and today I did W3D1 of C25K. I'm loving it so far! I never thought I would even attempt to be a distance runner, but I'm getting excited about running my first 5K in a few months. I have a wonderfully supportive husband who is always encouraging and gives me the time and space I need to exercise and take care of myself (without kids climbing on me.) I've always used having babies as an excuse to not get in great shape (knowing I would "just get pregnant again and ruin all my work.") Now it's me time! No more excuses. I AM going to do this.0

Thanks for sharing your story!
I am currently doing the C25K program. Just started week 4 this week. So far, I haven't had to repeat anything. I've been able to complete every workout...even 100 lbs overweight.
I have an opportunity to join a local 5K on June 9th. I will only be in week 5 or 6 by then. But I seriously want to try it. Problem is that I can't find anyone to go with me. However, if it's going to be like your case, where your friend left you anyway...I may just try it on my own afterall. Even if I don't get a good time, it would be great to know that I am able to do it.
I'm so pumped with this program! I feel like I can do anything!0 -

You should just go for it!
I'm about 37 lbs heavier than you and I haven't had any problems with it yet...even with a bad knee.
If I can do this...anyone can do this!
It's amazing the sense of accomplishment you get from it.0 -

I had my last two 12 months apart so i carried baby weight back to back...and my youngest was almost 3 when i finally decided to do it. I also have a very supportive husband..its always nice to know someone has your back and will help you get through it...feel free to add me And you will do GREAT on your 5k run0 -

you can do anything, keep telling yourself that because you can. And my sister in law ran her first 5k also same day i did mine..she ran with her daughter/my neice for her soccer team...and she has NEVER ran before. She walked a little but for most part she ran and finished at 45 mins.BUT its the fact that she tried and she finished. you can do it even if you have to walk a little. And yea my partner was gone.lol so dont let not having someone stop you. I had to get that out of my head year ago when i started because i was always the girl who couldnt do ANYTHING alone...sometimes you have to...GOOD LUCK on your runs. i know you can do it. feel free to message me or add me if you have any questions or need support.=)0 -
I also started at 186 and I am now off and on between 138-140....=)=)0
