I'm now off my last med!

Got the results from last Friday's blood work from my doctor today. I'm happy to report my glucose and A1C levels are now back in the normal range. So he told me to stop taking my last medicine (metformin) and I am no longer (as he told me last November before making the lifestyle change) "on the slippery slope to Type II diabetes". Now to achieve and maintain my final goal - a 34" waist by our 35th wedding anniversary next February 15th.

Wow! You are AWESOME!! You chose to do it and you did it! I admire you SO much and am thrilled for you!!
You know, I couldn't help thinking while reading your post...we all complain about the price of meds (and rightly so sometimes), but I couldn't help but wonder how much medicine we take because of the poor choices we make. We live in a time of "no responsiblity for ourselves" attitudes and I think that hurts us all in so many ways. We trash our bodies and expect someone to create something to "fix" it and then grip about having to spend money on it. I know there are many meds we have to purchase not because of our lifestyle choices, but so many we do. I guess your BLOG just made me think about it. I've heard so many people say what you said and it made me think.
I developed high blood pressure for the first time in my life, a few months ago. I guess my body just wasn't happy carrying all the extra weight. My BP actually returned to normal after only losing the first 8-10 pounds. I feel SO happy about it! I realized where I was heading with the meds and I am still relatively young, but beginning to get up there. It's hard to lose weight, but it feels SO good, too. I want to be healthy. I want to do all I can to take care of this body. I know we all my need certain medicines as we get older, but I want to do what I can, like you did, to step up and take responsibility for my body and the choices I make, relative to it's well-being.
You have just done an INCREDIBLE job. What determination and discipline! Oh, please send good thoughts my way as I continue on this journey! I've lost 15 pounds so far, but have a long way to go. I'm walking the right direction, but one day, one step at a time!
Congratulations on your accomplishment!
