Visiting my parents this weekend...

There's nothing like mom and dad's home cooked meals. When ever I go to visit my parents I CANNOT stop eating their food. I always tell myself, "You're on vacation. That's what you do when you're on vacation; EAT." I don't want to be rude and not eat my parents' food and I know I don't have to eat ALL of it but it's not very often I get to eat home cooked meals prepared by them. I want to enjoy it while I can. UGH. An upside to visiting them also happens to be a downside to my waist line.

:(

How often do you go visit? If it's not like every other weekend or something, I would say just don't worry about it. Do you think you'll be able to log at all?

You're right, I don't go every weekend....or even once a month. I shouldn't feel as bad as I do. I just don't like the feeling I get one I get home. The "one step forward, two steps back" feeling I get. I'm sure I'll be able to log with the mobile app :)

When I visit my parents, I try to choose just one meal a day to indulge in "home cooking." For my family, that is at dinner time. I eat a hearty dinner, but I go light on breakfast and lunch.

Maybe your family loves to have a big breakfast, or maybe a big Sunday Dinner after church, but whatever it is, try to choose just one a day while you're visiting.

I know what you mean. I used to be teased about how I would walk into my mom's house and search the cupboards and freezer for treats. I don't do that anymore. Now they practically shove it in my face but I've learned to say no to the treats. As far as the home cooked food, perhaps keep it to one big meal per day? Eat healthy during the non-high-calorie meals. Ask your family to take walks with you is another option. :-) Hope you have fun!

I love, love, love my mammas home cooked meals!!!!! They are def. not healthy!!! But they are delicious! I follow 1 rule when I comes to eating at moms. No seconds! That's it. She always makes a lot and always offers but i just politely tell her I'm stuffed. Who would turn down mammas food honestly? Lol. I get a workout in, eat pretty clean the rest of the day, and enjoy her dinner. :)
