Sugar?!

Hello,

I've been using this tracker for a while now and its going well for me if i cant 'scan' it dont have it so its good at stopping me being tempted.
The problem i'm having though is my sugars are hard to keep under the goal.
I never use up all my calories as a result of going over or on my sugars and this i think is the reason i've not lost any weight for the past 2 weeks.
My sugar allowance is 24g and my calories is 1200.
I'm finding im eating a lot of snacky foods because they are lower in sugar than fruit etc so instead of tucking into a delicious fruit salad of strawberries, apple, orange and banana im eating a bag of skips because the sugar is lower and the fruits would push me way over my allowance for the day, my question is what do you do?
Do you ignore the sugar section knowing a lot of it is down to the fruit or do you keep it all in line and if so how?

Thanks,
xx

I think most people will say if it comes from fruit don't worry. Mine is excessive everyday, from my weight gainer more than fruit but what you gonna do? I just ignore it :(

if you don't have a diabetes problem and you are just dieting to loose weight... don't worry about the sugar count if your cals are in limit

I eat a balance & don't worry too much about natural sugars. Just keep the chocolate to a sensible level.....

I dont "count" the natural sugars as much as the added sugars... I try to avoid added sugars and processed food at all times.. its about making the right choices.. yes 10 pieces of fruit is alot of sugar but picking a fruit salad over junk food is the HEALTHIER thing to do in the long run... also 1200 cals is quite low.. i dont know your height/weight but 1200 is low for anyone... Calculate your BMR and TDEE on this website http://www.fitnessfrog.com/ and try take 20% off your TDEE (I think thats what they recommend) but NEVER eat below your BMR :) hope this helps! good luck

    Hi all,

Thanks for your adive, i dont mind not sneaking the chocolate on its the things like fruit and maybe a yoghurt with my lunch i was struggling to fit in, i'm going to try and ignore the sugar levels and just focus on the cals and fat then, fingers crossed i'll have a loss again soon.

I'm having the same problem - I've only been on here a week but have only been within my sugar limit on one day. That particular day I felt I'd eaten really badly as I'd not had any fruit. So I'm not worrying about the natural sugars I'm taking in and am just trying to keep my refined sugars and processed carbs down.

    Hi,
I've just been on that site and my

    BMR - 1524
    TDEE - 1829, i took 20% off it came to 1463

Should i try increasing my cals to 1463 then? Its not a massive amount more than my 1200 which the app says i should be eating but it might be worth a try for a few weeks if the ignoring sugars thing doesnt work.

    xx

Ah ok if 20% off TDEE is lower than BMR then try 10%.... dont eat below your BMR but eat under TDEE :) good luck

Sugar seems to be the topic lately. I just added it to my diary to see where I stand. I am running high on it, also.
