So for the past 6 weeks, I have been regularly exercising 4 days a week (2 days spin, 2 days strength).
For the first 5 weeks, I was really motivated, pushing myself and enjoying it. And they say it takes 3 weeks to make a habit so I thought I had made it over the hump
But the past week, I have been dreading going, I still have been going but I have to force myself, and even once at the gym, I don't feel like doing anything and feel like I am not pushing myself to workout very hard. I feel like I am getting to a point like I have before where I will skip a workout here and there then end up stopping completely.
Does this happen to anyone? How do you keep up the routine when you are unmotivated?

That's what I did for almost a year! Tried to work out and do it on my own like everyone else, and it just didn't work for me. I tried to find a workout buddy, someone I could count on to go with every day. However, I couldn't find anyone available at the same times as I was and became worried that it was never going to happen for me. After talking with my boyfriend of 6 years it was agreed that maybe we need to spend money on a trainer. We budgeted it in and didn't look back. It was the best decision of my life!! It might be pricey, but if you budget for it it will be worth it. They keep you motivated and accountable for coming in every day. Since starting with a trainer I have lost over 45 inches and gotten engaged. She was the number one person on our guest list for the wedding. LOL
  • Have you tried switching up your routine? Try incorporating new things. I find that helps.

I second switching it up or adding in something new! Maybe try a different class or do a new strengthening routine. Variety is the spice of life!!

I think this is a great idea if you can afford it. My step dad (70 yrs old) signed up for a trainer 2 days a week at the Y and this really motivated him to work out and get in better shape.
I have the same problem as you, usually it hits me a little sooner tho, about 3-4 weeks in I bored of whatever I've been doing. Can you change it up? Take a different class for a few weeks? find an exercise buddy to help motivate you? :-)
