Sooooo, I am at home for lunch and tell my wife that I am pumped up and in the mood to either fight or f***.

She promptly tells me to try not to get arrested. :grumble:

Anywho...

I have realized recently that the more I exercise, and specifically the more frequently I lift, the more aggressive I am.

I don't have anger management issues, quite the contrary, but my tolerance for crap has gone WAY down lately.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Some type of testosterone spike, or just my inner meathead coming out?

oh, and just for Jules "HOSS SMASH"!

Maybe I'm having a testosterone spike...

I too noticed an aggression spike, but I attributed that to boxing and a divorce.. Now I want to hit something ALL the time!

Wow. Its the opposite for me. I feel less stressed & impatient and when I DO feel a wave of bit*h coming on a long walk or quick run helps. Only recently started lifting so if I start raging at the grocery store Ill know why:laugh:

I have noticed that after I lift I am a little more wound up but after a little while that usually goes away. I do notice that my patience level is "0" lately with my kids! Not sure if it can be attributed to lifting or work stress.

It appears a trend is forming...

    lifting weights = fighting
    cardiovascular = loving

Or you could try my route, endurance bicycling (did 124miles on Saturday). In that case, your too tired to do either :-p

I have noticed that I have no patience for stupidity. Which seems to be prevelant where I am living. What I do know is that 5 htp is a terrific calmer and helps you sleep. Most importantly it is natural.

Yeah, testosterone spike, and higher energy level, and the fact that you are making up for lost time when you didn't have the energy to do much of anything.

I box for a workout and it leaves me just wanting to F***. Luckily, the results of the boxing workout have my wife willing to oblige ;)

Lifting weights increases natural testosterone which for some can increase aggression. That's why some anabolic users get tagged with "roid rage" (when it's not actually a symptom for every juicer). Aggression comes from your personality and how you experienced it growing up.

I am the most mellow person outside the weight room and inside the weight room. Its all your personality.

I don't feel more aggressive after, though I listen to rage against the machine when I'm lifting, just to get the anger up so I can do it!!! :noway:

I've always been a semi-aggressive person...err, maybe I should say assertive instead. But exercise (lifting, not so much cardio) makes me wanna F***. I do believe it is related to increased testosterone.

I think you need to eat more; when you're hungry, you're crabby!

I find that it is just the opposite for me. I am more relaxed and calm after a workout. I channel all my agressive energy from the day into the weights/run/punching bag. It keeps me level headed durring the rest of the day.

It isn't like I am out picking fights or anything. That isn't in my personality (although I joke about it a lot!)

But I am just very pumped up most of the time now. Even when I am tired feel ready to go.

I think it is an awesome side effect, I just find it curious that it seems to be so persistent lately. I have been daydreaming about quitting my job and working outside for a living it has become so bad. That could be a good thing.

(I do see where guys could get roid rage if this feeling were amplified )

There's a difference between aggression and rage though. You can play football with aggression. You can play with rage. One is where one is still actually thinking, where the other is reckless abandon.
But chaulk it to higher test. It's been clinically proven that being overweight lowers testosterone and that has an effect on your aggression and libido.
