I was looking into the Fitbit and the bodybugg. I have heard a lot of people talking about them and I was wondering if it was really worth purchasing or not. Any input?

I have a friend who SWEARS by her Bodybugg... but I've never tried either one.0

I love my FitBit. I also have a Nike+ FuelBand which is awesome as well. I love the LED display and the goal you try to reach each day.0

I have the Body Media. LIFE CHANGING. You actually know your TDEE....which I learned mine is on average 3000 cals a day! I'm now eating around 2500 or so a day to keep my deficit from not being too big!0

The BodyMedia seems like the fitbit...am I right. I giving myself more and more options and making the decision harder!0

I have the Body Media too, I love it. The feature I love the most is the sleep monitoring.... I had no idea I woke up that many times in a night.... sometimes 6 or more... and the sleep efficiency is pretty cool..... let's me know why I may or may not be tired... many nights I think I slept well, when I look at my stats....not so much lol
Knowing your TDEE is really cool too ..... very helpful tool that is supposed to be the most accurate calorie counter on the market0 -

The main difference is you wear the Body Media on your arm, less chance of misplacing it and it goes by sensors of your body heat and motion etc.
The fitbit is worn clipped on your clothing. I am not sure if the FitBit monitors sleep patterns too ??0 -
I don't know what either of those devices are, or the body media. Anyone care to explain? Thanks0

I have the Body Media and love it. Have been wearing it since the 13th and have learned so much valuable information. I love the watch you can get that gives you the stats real time. It also lets you know when you reach your goal. This helps me stay moving so that I can hit my step/calories burned goal.0

The bodybugg is the best thing I have ever bought.0

Yes the fitbit can monitor sleep patterns0 -
I have a Fitbit and I love it. Some call it a glorified pedometer, but for $99, it was a good investment for me. It gets me up and moving, and it does monitor your sleep. It give you an idea of calories burned based on your BMR and your activity, and I like the fact that it clips right onto my bra. I have heard of people washing them because they forget about them, but I've never misplaced mine and it's become a part of me since I got it in January.0

yes im interested in getting one too but dont know very much about them or which one is the best to get0

I LOVE MY FITBIT!!!! Would also like to get the Nike Fuelband.0

The Fitbit does monitor sleep patterns, which is probably the most interesting part of it for me. The rest of it, I could live without, frankly. I have it, I wear it, but it's basically just trivia for me regarding how many flights of stairs or miles I've walked in a day. It doesn't motivate me to do any more (keeping in mind that I'm training for a marathon and following a training plan already) and I certainly don't modify my calorie intake based on it, so it's just really trivia. But that's just me... it seems like many others really find it motivating!0

I'm a FitBit user! Love love love it. I even named mine and talk to it for motivation sometimes since I dont have a lot of people IRL that motivate me or support me. Mine is linked to my MFP account and to my company's insurance reward points program. Not sure how the reward points will work, but it's better than nothing. Syncs my workouts as soon as I walk into my house via WiFi and it gives me an idea of how well I sleep at night. It also challenges me to keep going. The other day, I got a really special online 'badge' for walking enough flights to be the equivalent of the average height that a helicopter flies! I think it's totally worth the money!0

I had the bodybugg and it worked perfectly.....it died on me..... It probably just needs a new battery...... I was thinking about the fitbit and its benefits of uploading straight to MFP..... good luck!!!0

I bought a Body Bugg a few months ago. I wear it almost every day.
It was interesting to learn what my TDEE was/is. It was actually super low on work days and high on weekends. That pushed me to workout nearly every day after work so that my TDEE is higher. I really really like to eat!
That being said, I'm not sure how accurate it truly is. Most days, it tells me that my TDEE is 2400 - 2600. I eat 1800 - 2000. And I am losing weight, but I am not losing the projected 1 lb/week.0 -
Bodybugg/BodyMediaFit are pretty much the same thing. I love mine. And when I stopped wearing it I stopped losing weight - very motivating for me..0

The fitbit is small. I clip it to my bra and it does monitor sleep patterns. It comes with a little wrist band in which you slip the fitbit into.
I love my fitbit.0 -
Fitbit gets overall the best reviews, when I was researching these earlier in year it was by far the best option and lowest overall cost. Plus it integrates with MFP0

Actually the BodyMedia and the BodyBugg are the same thing with different branding. If you've been looking at a bodybugg, then bodymedia fit is the same thing.
I've been wearing a Bodymedia Fit since February. It's a great device. I don't have any personal experience with a Fitbit, but to me, the BMF seems like it would be more accurate.0 -
I had a BodyBugg before but I didn't feel comfortable wearing it to work & it also gave me a rash on my arm, though that was years ago and it has been redesigned since then. I did think it was quite accurate though.
I just received a Fitbit for Mother's Day and I love it. I am not sure how they compare for accuracy but I just use it to get an idea directionally of how I am doing each day and it has been great for that. It has also motivated me to try to increase my steps which I think has been the most beneficial thing for me.
Good luck with whichever you choose!0 -
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my Body Bugg!!!! I love that I can see how many calories I am burning!!! That was my biggest question of all. I has been wearing a HRM and using calculators to see calorie burns for work outs. They were always way off. The body bugg & body media are 90% accurate!!! Fit bit doesn't have the acuracy. It's just an estimate by using your height, weight, etc. I wore my friends fit bit and compared it to my BB and my calorie burn was much lower and the steps too were about 500 steps off.
I have the SP version so at anytime I can link it to my phone and see what my stats are. Love this feature. : ) The only draw back is that it's a paid subscription. But if your like me and swear by it then the cost is not an issue. Mine came with 6 months paid subscription.0 -
I have the Fitbit and use it religiously, but I've changed HOW I use it since I got it. I don't rely on it for telling me how many calories I've burned - While it's more than a stab in the dark, it is still only an estimate based on a person of the same age, height, weight, and gender as you, and doesn't take your specific metabolism into account. I had been synching it with MFP for a while and eating back the exercise calories it gave me, but stopped because I felt that it was giving me more calories than I was entitled to. Inistead, I just use it as a way to motivate myself and keep moving. Also, it does have a sleep tracker, but I've found there to be too big of a gap between the "regular" and "sensitive" settings. If I have it set to sensitive, it shows that I only sleep something like 3-4 hours a night, whereas if I have it on regular, it has me not waking up at all, and I can tell just on my own that I'm really somewhere in between.0

I LOVE my fitbit! Since I've been wearing it I've become determined to spend as much of my day on my feet as I can, just to see the big numbers and the extra calories I'm allowed to eat at the end of the day! On average I've been burning 400-500cal more a day because of this. And I just earned my 500km 'badge' which is satisfying! The sleep tracking if very interesting too and I've used it to figure out that I have my worst nights sleep when I have a cup of tea when I get home from work. Best money I ever spent!0

I have the BodyMedia Fit. Its really a great tool. I think any of them accomplish the same thing though, just to make you aware of your calorie burn and encourage more activity. I have the one that sych's with my iphone so i can check in during the day on my progress. They also have a place to log your foods, but their database is terrible compared to here. I tried for 2 months to use it, and just gave up. i've started tracking my foods here, and using that for the calorie burn. If you get it, try costco, they have the best price and it includes a 12 month sunscription.
On a side note - I have friends who have the fit bit and like it a lot too. All good products, just personal preference!0 -

How does Body Media track your food intake?0

This is just a guess, but you probably need to input it on the site0
