realistic or not?

Is it realistic to try to lose 50 pounds in 6 months? I've been working for about a month now and I've gained a lot of muscle and now I'm at 192. I would like to try to get to 140 by December if that's possible? Anyone have any success stories or similar goals?

It seems like a realistic goal. That's just a bit over 8 pounds per month.

I started losing the week before Christmas and just a few days ago i was at 52 lbs lost. So yes, I think it's doable. Good Luck!!

I was able to consistently lose 2 or more pounds a week, for stretches of 10 weeks.

But, I also had flat lines of 5 or 10 weeks.

Almost everyone agrees weight loss is erratic. Don't forget it's much harder to lose later than at first. Many people say about 1 pound a week is about right over the long term.

if you're going to try to do this, you're going to have to get really scientific. Don't base what you do on rumours and vague ideas. What about the book "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubes. Great book. Get the latest science on your side.

I have gone from 240 to 188 in 4 months. I haven't done anything drastic, just eat clean and workout 2 hours a day. Just basic cardio and weights, nothing fancy.

Add me as a friend if you would like.

It is doable, but it won't be easy. I have lost 85 pounds in the last 20 weeks. 20 pounds to go (goal weight = 200 lbs)!
