Stalled and need support

Hi guys ... Having some problems ... I'm stalled for the last three weeks and can't get into the right frame of mind to lose weight (or even care about what I'm eating).
I'm desperately looking for some encouragement and for some help motivating me to get back on track.
I'm down 119 lbs (in 8 months) but have been vacillating between 280 and 270 for three weeks because I can't wrap my head around anything right now.
Help?

sweety theres nothing i can say that can make u want to get back on track its up to you! its easy to backslide its part of the process actually, good days and bad days depends on moods and whats happening in our lives etc.. anything and everything affects our state of mind and we just stop caring! but remember why your doing this and how far you have come! u deserve to be happy and healthy!0

I think you hit the nail on the head in your blog. I don't think the "three weeks" of having a period and of feeling crappy/wanting to eat everything in sight are a coincidence.
Hormones are Hell, but the brain can overcome.
Talk to your doctor about your symptoms, they may need to adjust your meds.
Also, consider trying some light exercise just before dinner. Have a little snack (string cheese, chocolate milk, turkey breast... something with higher protein than carbs) and go for a non-strenuous walk. See if that helps your cravings without leaving you too hungry.
I didn't check your diary / calorie goals, but you may need to up your calories a bit or add more protein (30% of your total calories, protein = 4 cal per gram) while your body is adjusting to your new hormonal levels.

Hi, I have been mixing a cup of unsweetened grapefruit juice, 2 T apple cider vinegar and 1 T honey and trying to dring it b4 meals...it takes the hunger edge off, cleanses toxins and gives me something to sip that tastes better than water. {no really!}

This is not helpful.
I've tried going back over your food diary and a lot of days seem blank and the days you have logged, seem to have not eaten enough. It doesn't matter what size you are, food is energy your body needs to run efficiently. The bigger you are, the more claories you need however this where you can cut a little calaories each day. But that doesn;t mean you cut your required daily intake as well as any exercise.
Think of food like gas for your car. If you idle, you don;t need much gas but when you're motoring along you find you run out of gas and needto refill. This is the exercise (running the car). So you need gas both in idle and when moroting (even more so0. ou can't double dip trying to reduce idel calories and exercies calaories cause you effectively running on fumes.
You may not feel hungry, or maybe you are, but your body needs the fuel. It not only impacts on your physical but also your psysiological and mental well being too if you're not getting enough fuel. On the subject of fuel, MFP give you the recommended doses of octanes i.e. fat,protein, carbs etc. It works.

I have been stalled for several months, like 5 months, i've lost and gained the same 5 lbs over and over in this period of time so I understand your frustration but you've come so far.... do not give up now!!!! I can't imagine what you feel like having lost that much weight. I've lost 40 lbs and have 40 lbs more to get to my first goal. But to accomplish what you have is just amazing. I know it's frustrating to stall out but DO NOT GIVE UP. I look at this as a life change- I know I will be exercising and watching what I eat for the rest of my life, after all not watching what I ate and exercising got me into this state in the first place. So don't just look at the immediate look at the life change you are making. After all I bet your not going to go back to the "old" ways once you reach your goal. So just decide to start again and don't beat yourself up. We all have our days at the buffet but what is important is not to throw in the towel and give up.0

I have been reading on here a lot of the eat more posts and about eating your BMR daily, etc. I had plateaued for a bit and was getting very frustrated so I threw caution to the wind and ate my BMR totals. I was COMPLETELY satisfied AND I broke my plateau by losing a pound. All of this in one day of eating this way. I know there are threads on here all of the time addressing eating more but I can't find it right now. I'm sure one of the other posters on here will find it. Good luck!0 -
Sometimes just maintaining is a good step, when you have been at it for months. Focus on following your plan and just breathe. Do some thinking. Don't feel that you necessarily have to take action. Be kind to yourself. Maybe try something. Have faith -- you have come so far already! A few neutral weeks won't be the end of things.0

I've been in the same mindset, mainly because I had finals and graduation and parties to go to the past 2-3 weeks. But now that that is all done with, I'm trying to get back into the "healthy" frame of mind again. I had been eating ok up until this past week (parties and party food does that to me) but I had stopped exercising at all because of all the studying I was doing.
Well, now I'm exhausted because of finals, graduation, and parties! LMAO. I haven't exercised at all this week yet, and I can tell you I'm not going to tomorrow. I'm working 11a-1130p tonight and doing it again tomorrow. I'm going to be way to tired to do it when I get home tonight, and I probably won't get up early enough to do it tomorrow. But I WILL do it Friday and Saturday!

Hormones are a serious issue and can cause depressed-like symptoms (apathy, no motivation, mood swings, irritability, fatigue, craving carbs and high fat foods) and that can wreck your progress. You have made such gains... my suggestion would be to consider herbals in addition to talking with your doc. In the mean time, drink lots of water, force yourself to walk or do other exercise, keep tracking food, stick to your routine, and (I used to have to do this) if you are terribly craving bad foods at night and you have gotten your good calories in for the day- just go to bed and go to sleep. Adopt meditation practice perhaps before you go to sleep. Good luck to you.0

I just went through this myself. You have to remember how far you have come, and think about how easy it was. Yes, exercising and restricting ones self is not easy, but you know what IS easy? Time passing. Time passes so easy and it doesn't give you a chance to grab a hold of what you have in front of you.
I had such a hard time this past month dealing with what I have gone through. So many thoughts running in my head. You have to overcome it somehow, and the way I overcame it was remembering how I felt during the time I was losing weight.
My idea of gaining control was losing control gradually. That could not do. Just remember you are not restricting yourself, you are bettering yourself. Remember the look on your face when you lost your first pound, ten pounds, 50 pounds. Remember your friends and that they're going through the same struggle and how they support you. Remember that even though you are in a bad place right now, that you'll be out of it. You'll be out of it and wish you didn't go through it. That might kick-start it up again. Wanting to get out of it is the first step, once you admit that...
Last but not least, don't get yourself down if you mess up. Never do that.0 -
I totally feel you on the PCOS front and I would say, if you aren't already in contact with your doc about your symptoms you should be. For me, there have been many times that I thought it's supposed to suck this bad. I just have to tough it out. Then later I learn that the extraordinarily tough time I was going through was not normal and medical intervention made my life so much easier. And nothing major either, just a 10 day course of treatment. On the other hand, it may have to be something you have to ride out and either way you need strategies.
I checked out your food diary and there were some blank days. I would encourage you to log even if you feel like you don't want to. Keeping up your routines can help you slug through your slump. You might also try eating more in the morning and more protein. I know that helps me.
When I'm having the urge to crawl under a rock, try to do something that makes me feel good about myself. I might look at old pictures of myself and remember how far I've come or get way too dressed up for an everyday activity. I spend time doing something that makes me happy, despite feeling like crap.
I'm not sure if you are stuck in a food and fitness rut but if you are, try something new and challenging. Set a new nutrition goal and fitness goal this week. Something you know you can do and feel good about that.
And a final thought to end my tome. I recently heard someone say: Why is a plateau a crisis? You are achieving something you have not been able to achieve in the past. You are maintaining a lower weight than you have ever been. Learn what you can in this moment to take it with you to get to your next goal.0
