How do you running hiit? I’ve been playing with numbers and times trying to figure out how I want to hiit my running. I tabata 20/10 . . . but I don’t run tabata I plyo, push up, ab work, yadda yadda tabata. I’ve tried 45/30, 90/30, 60/30, and yesterday I saw one of my mpf’s say he 30/30’s. (on/off). I’ve been doing it on a treadmill and find that it takes too long to slow it down for active rest and speed it back up, so I go hard, then jump onto the rails and stand to rest.

I do Tabata 20s/10s on the road. 20s full blast 10s stationary recovery.0

I do this as well (but outside) only because I have a knee/ankle injury, though. When I was fitter, I did 30/15 or 60/30. If I was feeling lazy, 90/45 (because you get a longer rest period).0 -
I use 2 treadmills. One always going at my high intensity speed, and one at my "rest" speed which is actually a 5.0 slow jog.0

I do 2 minutes @ 4.0 brisk walk, then 1 minute @ 6.5 brisk jog, then 30 seconds at 9.0 (very fast run/sprinting for me), then 1.5 minutes cooldown @ 4.0. Then I start back with the 1 minute, 30 seconds, and 1.5 minutes cooldown until I get to 20. I am certainly done by the time I get to 20.0

Here is my actual workout:
1 mile at 6.5 - 9 minutes
walk 3.5 - 2 minutes
run 9.5 - 45 seconds (I try to increase the interval time each week)
jog 5.0 - 1.5 minutes
run 9.5 - 45 seconds
jog 5.0 - 1.5
run 9.5 - 45 seconds
jog 5.0 - 1.5
run 9.5 - 45 seconds
jog 5.0 - 1.5
pray and question why I do this to myself/try and convince myself being fat wouldn't be so bad
All equals about 20 minutes. Sometimes I need a little more rest time and sometimes less. You know how that goes...0 -
I do HIIT on the tread also - I hear of a lot of peeps who do it on the elliptical and am actually going to be giving that a try tonight only because I am so prone to stress fractures in my feet and I feel like HIIT on the tread is so tough on them...
My actual workout is:
5 min warm up @ 5mph
60 sec @ 9mph
120 sec @ 5mph
Repeat 8-10 times and finish with a 5 min cool down @ 5mph
As my feet feel better (again hopefully with the elliptical HIIT 2x a wk) I would like to try and do a tread HIIT at least 1x a wk and try for faster intensity speed and shorter rest (similar to Jnh17 HIIT). Total these take me about 30-32 min depending...hope any of this helps!!0 -
Thanks for the replies!! Looks like everyone is all over the place on this.0
