How many kcals should I consume?

Hey there.

myfitnesspal says I should have 1920 calories a day in order to lose 2lbs per week.
However, I want to lose more than that.

Until recently I was doing well, but now my weight loss has stagnated.
My girlfriend told me this might be because I'm not consuming ENOUGH calories (not a problem I've had in the past!)
I usually consume about 1400kcals a day (even though I'm recommended to have 1920).

Should I be eating more in order to lose more weight? Is there anything else anyone can recommend? I use a cross-trainer for 20mins about 4/5 days of the week.

Thanks!
Toby.

It's not healthy to lose much more than 2lbs per week unless you are very obese.

Eat the calories the website gives you.

Ok. But say I was to decide to lose more than 2lbs a week, should I bet eating more calories than I am?
Is eating too few calories putting my body into starvation mode?

Totally agree. I've ate what the mfp says and have not stagnated at all. I've gradually lost weight and am almost at my target now.
