Whats worked for you?

I'm just curious on what eating styles is working on everyone. Right now..I WANT to make healthier choices, cut back on sweets, but the anxiosity in just doing it is just too much. I really thought about just doing what I did before joining MFP..Still having what I want, just smaller portions w/ veggies..and not counting a single calorie. Sometimes not counting has me really fall of track more often then I'd like too..but sometimes counting calories too much causes me stress too. What's working for everyone? Are you still eating what you want or have you eat clean and feeling better because of it?

I think you know how I feel mostly...but I will leave it plain and simple...I fully believe that logging your food and exercise accurately and daily is KEY to losing weight and learning to live a healthy lifestyle. MFP works well when used properly...LOG, LOG, LOG...and get some good friends to help you on your way...and you will be as good as gold!!! I'm here for ya!!!

I try to eat "clean," but there are few days where I'm 100% good at it... do what you can manage. Your mental health is just a big a part of this as your physical. Do the best you can when you can.

I log everything. The biggest thing that has helped me is to not be too restrictive. I enjoy fast food, sweets, etc. from time to time, but I always find a way to stay under in calories and my protein/fats/carbs are always in line.

Planning ahead has also worked. If I know I will be going out for dinner, then I will cut back through out the day so I can enjoy the dinner.

    -Logging everyday
    -Reading MFP forums
-Working out 5-7 times a week (2 big lifting days, 3 - 5 of light cardio)
-Telling myself everyday I can do it
    -Believing that ^
    -Quitting soda cold turkey
-Not getting discouraged when I mess up
-Not getting discouraged when the scale doesn't move
    -Working out with a friend

    Just a few things.

What worked for me was logging my stuff on MFP and preparing my own meals. Bottom line is this:

You can eat WHAT EVER YOU WANT TO as long as you prepare it YOURSELF and swap out ingredients when needed. I still eat cheeseburgers, pasta burritos, etc. I just prepare them myself using healthy ingredient alternatives whenever possible.

Going for a brisk walk for 30 minutes every day was instrumental in getting me into a healthy lifestyle routine. Eliminating junk food from my diet AND HOME (cause there's no such thing as "will power") plus avoiding fast food restaurants and let's face it, restaurants period kick started things in a postive direction . The money I saved went towards splurging on healthy choices for sweets like cherries, or avocadoes and strawberries. Goodbye poutine!

Logging and weighing everyday keeps me fully informed about my decisions whatever they are and helps me stay focused. I think it is the most important thing for me to do. MFP is so easy to use, so it's hard to find excuses to avoid it. For me, it is also important to view this as a lifestyle change, not a diet. Now, if I could only learn to be patient with the results, cause I'm beginning to realize it will take longer than I want to reach my goal.
