I don't know what to do on my off days..

Everyone says only run a few times a week so your body can rest and heal. But what do I do on my off days that will burn as many calories as my walk/run? I have the p90x dvds but those just make me feel crappy cuz I can't do half the stuff they do.. and I fail at pushups/situps..
Sorry its been a downer day and I want to go run but its supposed to be my off day..

um when its my off day...I do NOTHING. I mean its an off day. How is your body supposed to recoup if you are still working out in some capacity? I could be way off base but at least 1 day a week there is NO excercising of any type.0

I don't think there is anything wrong with exercising everyday. Now I wouldn't run everyday and I wouldn't lift everyday. I run 4 days a week usually and strength train 3 days a week. Are you strength training, if not I would incorporate that, the muscle you will gain will help you with your running as well.0

On my "off" days I still do light cardio and strength training in the morning. Or, I schedule things I know will keep me moving. Grocery shopping, gardening, house cleaning, a trip to the park, etc.0

Days off include yoga and a light bike ride.0

I run almost every single day. My recovery days are just less and easier running. It is all relative.0

You are doing awesome! Just do a little bit, for the activity, to move your body. Nap if you can. Do something nice for yourself...like a mask, or bath soak, pedicure, massage, whatever...Get some sunlight on your skin for 30 min.0

Try a different workout dvd that isn't so intimidating. Right now I'm doing 30 day shred and running 3x week. I don't do 30ds everyday but usually alternate between running. Or you could just go for a long walk.
You wont necessarily burn as many calories, but you're still doing something. Or just do nothing and have a break.0 -
How about just going for a walk? Get's you outside in the fresh air...0

I only run three days a week, but I do workout DVDs 6 days a week, and often get a long walk in on the non-run days with no issues. There are a lot of good workouts out there that are 20 - 40 minutes and less intense than P90X. Check your local library & see what they have, then you can try them out before buying.0

Well I found something to do. Took my son for a walk around the neighborhood and this weekend I'm going to work with him on riding his bike. That should give me plenty of things to do lol0

Yoga, pilates, walking, hiking, biking, swimming, whatever you enjoy and gets you moving.0
