Knee ligament pain many hours after exercise

The ligaments below my left knee started to hurt pretty badly about 13-14 hours after I finished my last exercise (interval walking/running on treadmill - 20min running/40 minute walking interspersed).
Is it common to have such a delayed reaction to exercise or might there be some other cause?

soreness is common but not pain ..
I used to have left knee issues, but those were resolved when i visited the running store , after video gait analysis got a pair of shoes and touch wood have been pain free since
hope you get better answers ...

Pain can happen if you've overstressed the ligaments and tendons. Was your exercise a new one for you? Or a new level of intensity and time? For example I recently jumped from 10km runs to a 16km run and my knees were sore for two days. It would have been smarter for me to increase the distance more gradually.0
