Frustration

I can't figure out when in the process i screwed up. I have been counting calories religiously, eating healthier, exercising, and drinking water, and i hopped on the scale this morning to discover that i have gained all my weight back. I'm aggravated on one hand because I don't know what i did wrong, and depressed on the other hand, because my hubby wants a skinnier me, and i feel like i will never be able to give that to him, I also want a flat stomach and feel like I will never get it, and ashamed at the fact that i gained it back...someone explain to me, how on God's green earth i went from weighing 198 last week (the past couple of weeks that i did lose was after being on a plateu) back to weighing 205 this week. Yes, I did up my water intake from 3 glasses to 7-9 (except yesterday when i could only handle 4), i have been eating healthier lower calorie stuff (except for when i eat out, but usually only get a salad) and cooking meals at home, I have been doing Ripped, Six Week Six Pack, walking, running, stairs etc, and can't go a day without logging. I just feel like I will never win this battle.
My NSV for this week was that I managed to run/walk 3.2 miles on Wed...something I have never done.
I'm frustrated, I'm tired, and I am about ready to scream. Somebody help me. According to fat2fit, I'm suppose to be eating 2311 (moderately active) and my bmr is 1548.

Ditch the junk and processed food and eat clean. You'll see results instantly!0

If you haven't been working out regularly before this, perhaps you're gaining some muscle. Don't rely solely on the scale to judge progress. For example, in high school I swam every season for 7 years. And every season during the first two weeks the scale would jump up about 5-10lbs, but my clothes would fit the same, if not a little looser. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, but takes up less space you may still be shrinking, just not getting lighter because you're becoming more compact and strong instead of withering away0

I can't say that I don't eat processed foods because I do at lunch everyday. BUT you eat a lot of little debbies and junk that you could be eating something healthier to replace that. You also need to adjust your goals. 30% fat and protein 40% carbs. Make sure your sodium is listed in your group as well. I feel you are not getting enough protein at all. And frankly you have to start making better choices when eating. I would gain as well eating your menu's and i went back almost 2 weeks. McDonalds, Arbys..600 calories in ranch dressing..
600 calories for me would be 4 oz chicken breast, long grain and wild rice and veggies would be about 400 calories and for desert if i wanted i could have some pudding, cottage cheese and a bit of jelly. heck a half a cup of frozen yogurt. see what I'm saying?
I also wanted to know what kind of exercising you are doing when you burn 900 calories. Do you have a heart rate monitor? If not do be careful that MFP can give you a higher calorie burn then what you are doing..
PS. don't forget not to eat your exercise calories back when doing fit2fat but if you have a really high calorie burn make sure you are netting at least your bmr0 -
I do have a hrm....its a sportsline watch hrm (finally got one recently). I know its not as good as some of the others, but its only temporarily until i get a better one, and i am not sure how accurate it is. For example, when doing my run on Wednesday, it says that I burned 50 calories in 42 minutes. I have been trying to use my HRM more then using MFP's stats because i know that climbing my steps along with carrying my son probably isn't burning as many as it says that I am (i will assume from here on out that it is probably only half), i also have been starting Ripped in 30 and 6 week 6 pack, and on days where i'm too sore from c25k (i run even after my cooldown) i walk......as far as the Mcdonalds and Arby's, I'm hoping to not eat that again for the next six months to a year, though trying to convince my husband of that will be difficult since he eats out more then I do. The little debbies won't be in the house too much longer and sadly i give into those for sugary sweets
See my clothes are fitting looser, and I'm still fitting into 16's comfortably.
My BMR is 1548, and I'm suppose to eat 2311 everyday according to fat2fit.0 -
Food for thought here. Don't over do the exercise. Make sure you have a rest day. Do your videos, 3 days of weight training or cardio and some weight training. Don't try to do it all it's too much.
I have done fat2fit numbers before and lightly active for me was 1900. Now I'm short but seeing your picture you are smaller then I. I would double check the numbers.. Now if a few weeks go by(like a month) and you cleaned up your eating and still aren't losing i would drop your calories a hundred or so to make sure you aren't overestimating. Or don't have 900 calorie burns haha
It took my body 6 weeks to finally see a difference on the scale. Was so frustrating!!! I know I need to up my calories a bit I'm between 1600 and 1800 daily but I'm getting married in a month. I'm not trying to gain a few pounds before the big day because my body needs to adjust more..lol
Oh definitely measure yourself..0 -
First off you should not be doing this for your hubby in my honest opinion....it should be about you....be selfish.
Your weight is going to fluctuate hell mine can to as much as 7 lbs up and down.
Measure Measure Measure!!!!
Best and of luck and please dont give up .....its a scale ....it doesn't rule your life :flowerforyou:0 -
Agreed with the eating clean. It takes some work at the beginning and you have to commit, but sounds like you are a commited person. Once you drop the sugar, get over the cravings (which WILL happen), you will drop pounds without even trying and you'll feel SOOOOO much better. Check out clean eating websites for help- one of my faves is The Gracious Pantry.... Good Luck!0

cut out the fast food and eating junk food in the evening...0

NavyKnightAH1: Your discouragement is so understandable. It is crucial right now, though, that you comfort yourself with the knowledge that you have been doing well on your program. I have no idea why the gain....maybe some body process.....maybe inaccurate scale...... etc. That is not nearly as important as the fact that your Self Talk is so powerful. If you tell yourself it is hopeless, it is. Please tell yourself today that you can do this. You are doing it. And you will do it. You have not failed. Please keep on, keepin' on. Just for today.0

Try and cut out the eating out and junk food. Up your water to at least 8 cups a day, EVERY DAY, not just when you feel like it. I have a feeling you might be aiming for a too high calorie goal. When I started MPF gave me 1440. I did that for about a month then stalled. Upped it to 1560 and found my sweet spot. Maybe add 100-200 to what MPF calculated for you and never try to lose more than 1 pound a week. Feed your body what it needs, fresh fruits, veggies, lean meat and tons of protein. And don't obsess with the exercise. Your body needs some time to chill out. 5 days a week for 30min-1hr is PLENTY.
Please don't do this for your husband, do it for you. You deserve it. Don't obsess over a certian part of your body either. It will all come together if you hang in there, I swear.
The scale sucks. I'm in maintenance right now after getting to my goal of 157 & 5'11 about 3 weeks ago. Yesterday I got on the scale and it said 154.6. Today 159. No rhyme or reason. Take measurements now and every 2 weeks. Go by the way your clothes fit. I'm even noticing things I bought at goal are getting big now and I really haven't lost much more.
I know this is hard, fusterating, exhausting and it's much easier to just give up. But giving up never did anyone any good. But slow and steady wins the race every time.0 -

This.
One day at a time.
And just a thought...could it be water retention? Just a thought.0 -
You aren't cooking at home, you are reheating canned and processed foods. Also, the quick add calories - are they true? Could they be higher? Go buy some fresh chicken, beef, seafood. Buy fresh or frozen fruits and veggies. Buy some oatmeal, rice (the huge bags without flavoring added), that sort of stuff and make fresh, healthy meals. You will control what goes in them. You can still have processed stuff, but it shouldn't make up your entire diet.0

ty everyone for the encouragement and suggestions!!!!!!!!!! Um, not sure if it is water retention or not (might be since i'm suppose to be starting tom next week). I'm trying to hang in there, i have always been overweight, and i started losing weight last May (one because i was getting married in Sept, which i did obviously) and didn't realize i was pregnant until June....my pregnancy with my son is how i dropped from 243 (which was my heaviest) to 225 in about a month, and then down to 220 by august. When he was born i was 219, and then after he was born, I dropped to 204. I was active during my pregnancy due to my job as a sports correspondent. He was born normal and at 40 weeks It took from Jan until last week to get down to 198, and it is just discouraging to be back to 205. I won't give up on this journey, and other then my husband, and wanting to be around for my son, the other reasons: my mom died at 57 from a massive heart attack (but she smoked like no tomorrow and had heart problems, copd, and was supposedly in remission of cancer, but they couldn't be for sure), my grandma died 11 months after that, and my father was in the hospital almost a yr after that. Except for my aunt and one of my cousins, and my husband, everyone else is over 300lbs on my moms side of the family. I also have asthma, that will more then likely turn into copd (due to genetics) and am trying to be as healthy as possible. I know, probably a lot of information you didn't want to know, but it is kinda needed to be said.0

Personally I would drop your calorie total. If you BMR is 1500 and you are eating 2300 you would have to be burning like 1300 calories a day to lose a pound a weak. Probably with all your exercise you are getting to your maintenance level.0

I ...ashamed at the fact that i gained it back...
just track as accurately as you can... then make adjustments
(I like clean eating, and watching my sugar intake. Some folks watch carbs, some sodium, some fat.) Pick something and see how it works for you, then readjust. But if you track accurately you start from truth... if you screw up a day THAT'S FINE, just write it all down and look back so you can see cause and effect. There is stuff you won't notice until it's happened several times. You can't see it if you don't track it.I'm frustrated, I'm tired, and I am about ready to scream. Somebody help me. According to fat2fit, I'm suppose to be eating 2311 (moderately active) and my bmr is 1548.
If so MFP is crediting you TWICE for that activity and giving you DOUBLE the calories that you need. One or the other.
Personally, I like to use Sedentary setting and track all my exercises so that I can look back and see how far I've come. And I can see cause and effect. (Like I after a big workout I retain water and will weigh more the next day or two)because my hubby wants a skinnier me, and i feel like i will never be able to give that to him,0 -
You don't have to eat 100% clean to lose weight. That said, it is healthier to eat fresh foods that you prepare yourself instead of things from boxes all the time. You don't have to give the convenience foods up 100% if you don't want to, but you should cut back. Especially on things like Little Debbie's. Processed, canned, and boxed foods have their place... but not every day at every meal.
I make many meals that take 30 minutes or less if time is an issue. It really is not as difficult as some people perceive it to be.
I also can't drink as much water as people "suggest". Guess what? Everyone is different. It hasn't hurt me in any way. As long as you stay hydrated, remember that everything is a guideline based off of the average person... you may not be one of those average people.
Your food also seems very high in sodium (lots of processed foods or sodium filled meats) so that can cause water retention. Your protein is also very low on the majority of the days. I had to cut down on carbs to be sure I ate enough protein and healthy fats. Not saying you have to do low carb, in fact I think most people do NOT need a low carb diet to lose weight, but I have to work to keep it below a specific amount so I make sure that my other amounts are higher.
Are you doing moderately active from fat2fit AND counting exercise? Fat2fit takes their activity levels INCLUDING your exercise already. MFP does NOT. You may be counting your exercise twice.0
