For those of you who are young... like, in your 20's and have lost alot of weight. did your skin bounce back? Was it tight again or is it real loose? I have 70 lbs total to lose and I was wondering what I can expect my skin to look like on my legs and stomach once I lose it all.

Also, for moms who had c-sections and lost a bunch of weight... How does it look down near the incision? Will I most likely have loose skin there or is it a good chance that when I loose all the weight it will tighten up and look close enough to normal??

From what I have heard - that us younger ones in our 20's have quite elastic skin, so it should bounce back easily. At least that is what my aunt has said about me since I am trying to lose 63 lbs (8 so far! woo!).

I'm 24 and my skin did not bounce back  It's very ''droopy'' right under my belly button - forming a ''w'' I've had 2 kids but the bulk of my weight came with the first PG & between the 2 kids. I lost weight when PG with my daughter so I know the damage was not from her. The ''damage'' was done between ages 20 & 21 and I was ''average'' sized growing up and in HS. IMO, your genes are what determine if you skin will go back, I mean, being young helps, but not always. And I didn't lose the weight quickly, it's been over a year since I started losing (started april 08 when I got PG with Megan).

Good luck! I'm curious to see the other responses as well! :flowerforyou:

I had a c-section 4 1/2 years ago, and the incision looks great--you can hardly even see it. But my belly just below my belly button is a different story. Super wrinkly and flabby (I've lost about 30 lbs since my second son was born in June of '07). I still have a few pounds to lose, but I'm sure the stretched-out skin will never go away. But I'm also 35.

Age plays a part, but it's basically about how damaged your skin is. Once skin gets stretched to a certain point, it doesn't fully bounce back no matter what your age. With a 70 pound weight loss, I think your skin will at least mostly bounce back. You may have a little looseness, but you're not going to have the issues that someone losing 200 pounds will have.

So how much does it cost to get a tummy tuck if all you have is a bunch of really saggy skin and hardly any fat? My husband thinks it would be well worth if after our next-last kid.
  • I am 24 years old and used to weigh close to 300 pounds. Now I weigh 180. I was very surprised at how well my Stomach has toned up. I do alot of weight lifting and a very difficult ab workout. The key is to find what works for you. The only place I am having trouble with is my arms but unfortunately it runs in the family. Its hard work and sometimes a long process but it can happen. No matter how long it takes me I will keep working on it. Good Luck and Have Faith.

I have lost 74 pounds so far and all of my skin bounced back nicely. As long as you lose weight at a healthy length of time you should be fine. Good luck!
  • I'm 17. I went from 198 lbs to 174 lbs....And my skin didn't bounce back. : /
Its...pretty icky. Haha, I mean, I'm not completely droopy, but my stomach isn't exactly firm either. Not even close. I blame it on my laziness. Lol, If I had done a few more sit-ups I probably wouldn't be this bad.

I added some exercise with my diet a couple of weeks ago and I can definitely feel a difference.
Hopefully I'll be able to SEE that difference soon, as well.

    Good luck, lovely.

I'm 28, have lost 75 pounds, and have three kids (3 c-secs). My skin has pretty much bounced back so far except for my arms (but I'm trying to work on that). As for my lower stomach, I still have a pooch that hangs slightly over my c-section scar. Since I'm not done losing the weight yet, I can't say what it'll look like when I get to my goal.

In my 20's I lost 50lbs and some/most of my skin bounced back. My hubby lost 80lbs in his 20's and it did not....I say it's mostly in your genes and how long you skin has been stretched for. Have your parents ever lost weight?? That's a good inidcator.

I lost 30lbs around age 21 and my skin bounced back.. I lost it over a long period of time, not sure if that makes a difference. I'm 24 now and only trying to loose 15-20 so hopefully no saggy skin this time either lol. Stretch marks unfortunately are a whole other story.. ugh.

    Hi there!

For me, I've lost around 115 lbs now & my weight is kinda where it wants to stay. I'm 23, 5'10" & 155 lbs. I have sagging and have large amounts of excess skin. I am a gym rat & smart about what I eat. I think it depends on how long you have been overweight & genetics. I've been negated by members on MFP saying that there's no such thing as excess skin, but I'm living proof that there is. I've been told that it will happen if you lose weight too quickly, but I took 4 years to lose my weight and develop a healthy lifestlye. I know that all the women in my family typically carry a large lower pouch of fat, which is what I have. I have been waiting a year and a half for my tummy tuck consultation & now i'm just two weeks away from going in for my appointment for a surgeon to evaluate my situation. I also have a bit under my arms that I may have done. Ultimately in the end I will want a breast lift & augmentation to complete my journey. For now, the tummy tuck is number one for me!! I'll let you know what the doctor tells me as far as age & what to expect in a couple of weeks. From there I'll book the actual surgery & i'll be sure to post my results!

Keep up the great work & don't let the excess skin drag down your drive for a healthy life!!!

    thank you everyone!

I have only been this heavy since around last december... While I was pregnant. I was around 180 (not thin by any means but I looked decent in clothes) before I got pregnant and I am down to 202... I know the problems I'll have will be my stomach b/c of the baby...

My mom has recently lost a bunch of weight and it is kinda saggy... but she has been overweight for 13 years... I've only been overweight for about 1 1/2 years.. she has also had 2 single babies and one set of twins.. and she is 5'1 and 47 years old.. also, she is losing it super fast.. like 30+ lbs in just 2-2 1/2 months with no exercise... so I can't really go by her.. My dad has always been in great shape..

I think I'll be a bit loose in my stomach... b/c of my baby and c-section.. my arms will be fine though.. most of my weight is in my stomach.. :(

But that was awesome feedback.. I really appreciate it!

I'm 23 and had 2 babies I reached 160 with my first and second pregnancy ....im at 125lbs right now and have another 15lbs to go,,,,but as far as i can tell my skin is going back to normal for the most part........the stomach i cant tell yet because it still has quite a bit of fat....but when i grab it it feels like fat and not loose skin....but it really depends on ur genetics and what not just drink lots of water and really healthy fats to lube the inside of ur skin as well as the outer skin....(lotion is another factor i think)... :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: hope all goes well

I m 28 and have three kids. I was my biggest after I had my son over 200 that was 6 years ago, today my skin looks tight. I of course have the dreaded stretch marks but other than that you would never know I was ever over 200 lbs. Working out is key, I am an aerobics instructor and personal trainer and know from experience if do toning/strength training and cardio it does wonders and tightens you up:) You will look Hott:)
