Someone has to ask this question as we head in to a holiday weekend. Some people struggle with fast food, sweets, etc. I like my beer! Specifically micro-brews, which are rarely light.
I don't overindulge - I usually enjoy a beer, sometimes two on the weekends and occasionally during the week. I love to sit down on the front porch, put my feet up, and enjoy a cold brew while I listen to the sounds nature or watch my kids playing in the yard. It's a fantastic way to unwind after a long week!
So - has anyone found a great light micro brew that is easy on the calorie budget?

It's not a microbrew, but have you tried Amstel Light? I don't know how 'light' it is but it's tasty.0

I havne't tried Amstel Light - but maybe I'll give it a shot! I'm always open to trying new beers. It doesn't have to be a micro-brew...just has to be something new, different and tasty! I also like seasonal brews as well - my favorite is a Leine's Summer Shandy...it's not a budweiser, but it isn't really a micro brew either.0

I'm all about beer - I am a member of the "World of Beers" club. I try a lot of different ones also.
One of my favorites is a pale ale called Delirium - http://thequietman22.blogspot.com/2008/12/beer-of-weekend-39-delirium-nocturnum.html
Now, it isn't exactly low calorie, but being as it is 9% alcohol content, you really only need a 16oz glass...for 200 calories it packs a punch!
On the off days I feel like slumming it, I still enjoy Miller Light! Amstel Light is yucky IMO. ML has a pretty full flavor while being pretty low in calories.0 -
kdiamond, my favorite beers are pale ales or nut browns. I love Sweetwater 420, brewed in Atlanta, but I don't know how widely available it is. But if I'm having more than one beer, for calorie reasons I stick with Miller Lite as well. It's so much better than the other domestic lite beers.
I'll have to check out your link. 9% WOW!
Cheers Ladies! :happy:0 -
Thanks for the ideas - I'm going to check out Delirium to see if it is available in my area.
Are there any spotted cow fans out there???? They have a very small distribution area - whenever I'm in Wisconsin, I have to stock up!0 -
Abita strawberry harvest is the BEST summer seasonal beer! Its something like 120 calories and is so delicious! Not too fruity, just perfect. However they only make a limited number each season so it can be hard to find, but ifyou can track it down i highly recommend it!0

That sounds delicious too! Too bad they don't distribute in my area!! I'll have to watch for it when I travel.0
