I think there should be a new rule...

From now on, when someone wants to post about their relationship or ask for the internets opinion on their problems, that they give ALL the circumstances surrounding it.
For example:
My husband called me fat. Should I be angry with him? Thus ensuing all the rage and bashing against said husband.
then you find out:
My husband walked in on me eating an entire five pounds of bacon, dipped in cream cheese, and then had the nerve to tell me to go run it off so I slapped a b*tch and told him to make me a sammich. Then he told me I needed to watch my figure...but he's still a dbag right?
and so on and so forth.
*Disclaimer: This is not directed at any one person. At all.

Exactly why I have decided to avoid those type of threads. That and I started wondering why someone would ask a bunch of strangers on a site about weight loss for relationship advice. :huh:0

If you're looking for internetters to validate your side of an argument/situation why WOULD you give them relevant info that might support the opposition?
Those posts are not people looking for unbiased opinions.0 -

It is really confusing. I get all heated about the topic and then 20 pages in the OP comes back and they tell the WHOLE story...then I feel bad for being all upset about something. *sigh*0 -

I agree, I do, but the OP usually comes back with the whole story, whether it's right away or just tidbits, that add up and then they look like a total a$s. Why not just avoid it all? Lol.0 -

To that point, I honestly have no idea. :laugh:0 -

Well now I have to go start a thread bashing you for wanting my bacon. *kitten*0 -
How good is bacon? My daughter made it a point to ask the other day at the grocery store if we could buy more. She's not yet 4. So freakin proud0

*I am willing to go slightly off topic for bacon. Did you see the lady with the bacon bikini? THAT is how good bacon is. You don't just eat it, you revel in it and make clothing out of it for later snacking*0 -

I agree overall...but this is where the responsibility falls on you. Your advice has to assume you don't know the whole picture...because, honestly...no matter WHAT or HOW MUCH they said, you really don't have the whole picture lol.
I hate seeing relationship advice on this forum...it's all the same. If it's a guy...it's 'aww, your wife is probably just insecure...talk to her and it'll all work out!'. If it's a girl, it's invariably 'Girl, you need to ditch his sorry *kitten* and find someone who will respect and treat you right!!'.

You just summed up all the relationship advice that is on this site right there. *slow clap*0 -
or "that a guy told you when you overweight that he wasn't interested in you but after you lost all that weight, he's suddenly interested in you". Well, no sh$*. You mean people actually have a body preference? I didn't knew that was possible.
My favorite on the boards was when a girl ranted on the board that her boyfriend is messy and one of the replies was "Dump him, he's a waste of time". The reply was after it was mentioned that the girl hasn't bothered talking to her boyfriend about his messiness btw
There's countless similar topics which most of the time endup becoming this man hating threads. There even was a "feminist only" thread. I don't know what the new rule about these types of topics should be but it sure would be nice if they can be stopped because as much as I love women, these topics are just making me dissapointed towards this lovely gender0 -
My husband called me fat once, I was though. When he called me fat, just put it this way, he never done it again. I lost 115lbs, but not cus he thought I was fat. I knew I was haha.0

That girl just started a new thread tonight:

That poor, poor guy.0 -

Yup, saw that post. Thought I recognized her from one of those threads but there are just too many of these forums.
New Rule: Change MyFitnessPal.com to LetsHateMen.com0 -

Congrats on the amazing loss. I think my point is, you didn't come to this site, create a thread dedicated to bashing your husband for calling you fat and then let the ensuing rage of the female population take any form of balls he has left (not in your purse, lol) and CRUSH THEM (oh and don't forget, you did all this without talking to him about it and he wouldn't know about the post).
Again, what an inspiration on the loss!0 -

An incredibly wise lady on these forums once told me that is called 'estrogen rage'. Apparently, estrogen also has razor sharp claws, needle like teeth, and is in no way as soft and cuddly as one might otherwise think.
Think Gremlin, not Gizmo.0 -

My estrogen is still pretty rational. Except when it wants chocolate.0 -

Well, just don't get it wet after midnight or whatever...or we're all screwed.0 -
I like your rule in theory. But say it were actually enforced...
Who am I supposed to shake my head at & think "bless her/his stupid little heart"?
Who is going to post all the crap that makes me grateful I held out for a man who has never once given me any reason to fall into the whole "I'm a womyn so boys are stupid & there are no real men" mindset?
Who will stir up all the drama that so many unhappy people thrive on?
These are important questions I think you need to consider before you go around trying to impose logic on folks who obviously want no part of it.0 -

Very true. It's like Jerry Springer, you know it's going to be ugly, you know it's going to be irrational but it makes you happy you live in the real world. Okay, I might revoke this rule...0 -

Is this whole conversation awesome because I'm really tired or just because it's awesome?0 -

I kind of lean towards awesome...but I'm tired, and biased on top of it...and so my judgment is not to be trusted.0 -
We can all agree that it's awesome, we're all tired, and the rule is being revoked anyway. Erikk made too good of a point. If we enforced this rule, our entertainment would be gone.
Good night internet world.0 -
