What's MFP mean to you?

This is my first crack at this so please bear with me. It's been 6 months now since I have used MFP. My very intention was to log my food intake so it could help me lose the weight along with exercising. But along the way I have come to see MFP as a social tool as well as a nutriotion and exercise monitor.
I guess I would be guilty of using this as a social outlet along with tracking my exercise and foods.

What do you take from this site?

    I find it helps keep myself in check from eating bad food and going off the rails.. I really like the support people give you on here as well.

    I use MFP for everything it has to offer. I have been a member of this site for 3 years. While I am not completely finished with the weightloss, I have been maintaining for quite some time while building strength. I have made a multitude of true friends, a lot of whom I have had the pleasure of meeting in person. I think MFP is what you make it out to be.

    Personally, after being a member for so long I have somewhat developed a "fitness family" that I feel safe with sharing ideas, thoughts and feelings.

    I was originally going to simply utilize mfp to count calories, but after about a week I decided that maybe I could make some friends to help out along the way. And seriously, my friends on here are pretty stellar. We encourage each other and share in each others' lives now. I hold them in the same regard as I do my "real-life" friends. They are a HUGE part of this journey and I don't think without the social aspect of mfp, I would've stuck with this "lifestyle change" this long.... I can share my victories and funny anecdotes without the drama or cattiness in the news feed like over on the book of face. It's a super positive vibe here (minus some negative trolls on the forums here and there).... and positivity breeds positivity :)

    Pretty grateful for this site and my friends on here....

    For me, support and I've meet some really cool people so it's a bonus. I'm 20 pounds away from my goal.

    I see it as three things:

    1) it is a place to log your food intake for the day
    2) it is a place to see guidance and encouragement from others
    3) it is a place to also be to be truly honest with yourself

    I have stopped and started in the past and truly this time have started to use it as a tool to be honest with myself - log every meal no matter what. No excuses from me good or bad. But, now with the encouragement of new friends - I have a check in system - they will be there for me to be honest to and with. Fact is you can lie to anyone but yourself. I know I became overweight by myself but MFP gives me a tool to work against that with the fact that people will be checking what I do and what I eat

    I used it sporadically a while ago to count calories. Now im determined to use it daily to not count my calories, but my carb intake, which for me is more important. Ive just started looking at the forums which are great to get inspiration from. I havent made many contacts yet - and would really like to so i can get support and motivation from (so if anyone would like a new buddy - add me!)
