So i recently lost 5 pounds (im very short so 5 pounds shows a lot on me) and some people have noticed. Before losing the weight people called me fat and chunky and curvy and meaty. After losing 5 pounds my bfs mom called me skinny minny (which i was happy about) but then he told me that she mentioned it to him yesterday and said "why is jess getting so skinny" then my grandma was like "youre not eating" (which i am). Its like i cant win, im insulted when i dont lose weight and now that i lose some weight im still insulted. Im so discouraged. Then my bf's mom was like "wait till u have kids itll be harder" like why are you saying that? Uggh

fat and chunky before 5 lbs?? are you a foot tall? regardless if anyone said that to me I would knock them right back into their place.... you can only read insult so many times before you ask why you even listen to these 'family' members anymore. my family didnt mention when i gained 40 lbs after college, because they didnt want to upset me. if it was in a concerened for your health type of way i would understand, but 5 lbs....0

Sounds like you need to tell a few people to STFU and get a life.0

i can vouch for you. i'm 5'1'' and every little pound counts =/
don't worry about strangers. don't worry about your friends. don't worry about what your boyfriend or your mom or your boyfriend's mom says.
as long as you're eating healthy and are not starving yourself, f*** the rest of the world, and just worry about yourself.
in the end, the only person you can hold accountable for your health, weight, and happiness, is yourself.0 -
Do it for yourself! *kitten* them. My family is the same way, never happy unless they have something or someone to complain about. Most the time I'm the subject, being the "rebellious middle child" lmao. My younger brother (17) saw me exercising and told me, doing that isn't gonna to help you lose weight, your always gonna be a fatty. It hurts. I have learned to ignore it and just keep at it!0

yep, I told my dad proudly when I hit 199, that I'm under 200 now. He just said "well, you need to get down to about 150" My folks won't even touch my cooking anymore. They don't want that healthy ****, they want real food. Then they b*tch when I'm at their place and don't eat their food. I'm just so used to it....I roll my eyes and walk away.0 -

Welcome to human nature. This is why you should do things to satisfy yourself...and the one you love (assuming they deserve it and give you the same respect).
Other than that...no one elses opinion matters.0 -
It's just that people love judging. We all get such comments when our relatives see we have lost weight. I think that it takes some time for them to get used to your new looks. Do whatever makes you happy!0

If your family is judging you for losing 5lbs, in my opinion, either:
- You're already quite slim. If that's the case you need resistance training to improve muscle tone
- Being overweight is the norm in both families, so they're worried about you because of you not conforming to that
- They're jealous.0 -

I would say they are jealous but they're all people who are close to you, so maybe they're just concerned when they have no reason to be. And what grandma says does't count because don't all grandmas make others want to eat?
Don't let their comments discourage you. You're doing great and most importantly you're doing this for yourself, so in the end really doesn't matter what they think. The comment about it being harder when you have kids.. she couldn't be more wrong. Being overweight during pregnancy is NOT healthier. :noway: (Neither is being underweight) If you are at a healthy weight don't let their words get to you.0
