Green Tea?

I've been reading a lot of articles and watching a lot of videos about the benefits of green tea not only in weight loss,
but for your body, detoxing purposes and energy wise.
I bought a package of green tea the other day and I have to say the taste was quite bitter. I know what I really want to continue drinking it but I don't want to have to force myself to.
Does anyone drink green tea that knows any ways to kind of make the taste a little better?

Don't let the tea bag sit in the cup too long. Also you can make it cold. I fill a big water bottle with hot water, stick in the tea bag, let it sit in the fridge a few hours to get cold. Then drink it. It tastes like regular unsweetened ice tea. Now if you don't like to drink cold tea that way, try a little Stevia in it or maybe some lemon? You could also try a little honey in your tea when you make it hot.
You do of course have to drink a lot of green tea to really reap the benefits of it. Of course any time you can drink it, it's good but I think it's mostly suggested, something like 3-4 cups a day of it.0 -
Nothing saying you can't mix it with something. That is what I do. Can't stand the taste plain so I make a 2 quart of iced tea where I use 3-4 bags green and 1-2 black tea. The black tea drowns out the flavor of the green tea. I get a lot of my teas through Republic of Tea and the Mango Ceylon is a great black tea to mix with. The PassionFruit Papaya is another good one.
I still get the benefits of the green tea with the added benefits of the black tea (one of which is a much better flavor).
I also sometimes make the green, cool it and then mix with a package of Crystal Light lemonade or Pure Lemon packets.0 -
I make ice tea with green tea and here is how I do it. Bring water to a boil. Turn off water remove pot from burner. Add tea bags and let steep for 30 minutes. I have found if I let the tea bags boil the tea will get bitter.0

Don't let the water come to a full boil. It makes it bitter. I don't find it bitter. But I bought the generic kind.0

To properly brew green tea to get the best flavor start with cold water, bring to 180 degrees (slightly before the boiling point), remove from heat, add tea, steep 2-3 minutes.
If you boil or steep longer that is when it gets bitter. Also, don't start with hot water. Tea is kind of fussy to get it perfect.
And to me green tea still tastes bad. :-) But at least I try to make it taste good on its own.0 -
Try all the different varieties - I prefer it with mint. As someone else already mentioned over brewing makes it bitter too.0

I like Bigelow Green Tea and i'll add honey or Truvia (1 packet)0

I love green tea with agave and green tea with a clear fruit juice to add sweetness.0

I love green tea and I squeeze fresh lemon to take away the bitter taste. good luck!0

I love hot plain green tea BUT not all brands. I tried a few before I found several that I like very well. Experiment, different brands taste different (to me at least).0

I absolutely second the advice to not steep it too long. I don't let my bag sit for more than 1 min TOPS.
An alternative to green tea is white tea, which has the same wonderful benefits but tastes a bit milder.0 -

I add honey to mine... the bitterness gives me a headache! :P
Also, I always drink loose leaf green tea from Teopia or David's Tea. They have lots of different flavours there that make it tasty; check out the websites, I don't work for either company (btw).0 -
I throw a bag of it in my shaker bottle with cold water and leave it in the fridge overnight.
Doesn't taste like much, sometimes i throw in a packet of sweetner.0 -

Just keep drinking it if you can. I couldn't stand the taste when I started, but I've since acquired a taste for it and now prefer it without anything added.0 -
Try the loose tea leaves and not the bag. You just need to brew it in 60-70 degree hot water, and you can even leave it in the mug, it tastes just fine. I don't know if it's the tea that works or just the hot water...0

Green tea tastes disgusting no matter what you add to it and believe me Ive tried everything. I now take my green tea in capsules and drink other herbal teas for a cleanse and health benefits.0

I love green tea! I add stevia to mine like I do to any unsweetned tea. For me, the bitterness does not bother me. They say the more bitter the tea the better quality it is due to the antioxidant level. I like a lot of different brands, but you might like Tazo's mint green tea. The mint helps mask the bitterness a little.0

I add a little bit of the lemon lime crystal light to my hot green tea.... It took a bit of experimenting to find the right amount for me, but a single serving crystal light is enough for 4 big mugs of green tea usually!0
