Hey All! I was wondering if anyone knows if myfitnesspal has a way to adjust calories for weightloss while breastfeeding? My baby is 6 weeks and I am exclusively breastfeeding. I want to start losing some weight and working out but dont want to compromise my milk supply. 1500 calories is good for weightloss but to low when breastfeeding.....does this site have a way to adjust the calories so I can lose weight and maintain milk supply? Help!

Thanks, Kira

you can set any calorie intake you want by picking "custom goals" rather than the guided settings. Just dial in the number.

There's also a food entry that you can add.

Rae's right! You can 'add' -300 or -500. It's listed as 'breastfeeding' on the search.

Also consult a lactation nurse. They'll be able to give you better information for your personal goals and needs.

I tried to diet when I was breastfeeding and stopped producing milk. I think I might have done better if I had been able to just exercise more and limit fat etc just a bit. Good luck.

I added 500 calories to my daily goal when my baby was exclusively breast feeding. When she started on solids I moved it to 300.

Same here. Even a small reduction in cals made me stop producing. .

I had a roaring urge to eat while breastfeeding, so dont try anything too restrictive you might just be setting yourself up for failure

I add it as a food I add 600 calories to my meals under snacks. I add this amount because I am nursing 9mo twins.
