I am a 228 pound 50 year old male who has been seriously running the past 6 years. I have done 6 marathons during this time period. Like a lot of heavy runners I have over developed calf muscles which have been the cause of several running injuries. I had achilles tendonitis and plantar faciitis as a result. This year I started running with CEP Compression Socks and I cant believe the difference. I am pain free and I just set a new PR for a half marathon. My milage is up to 55 miles per week as I train for a July Ultra Marathon. I highly recomend using Compression socks. How many other folks out there are using them?

I don't know what compression socks are... But I have recurring severe ankle issues, and this sounds like it could possibly help???

I've been walking a lot in preparation for Couch25K, and I like how my feet don't get sweaty when I wear synthetic compression socks. They also don't bunch up and slide into my shoes. Right now, I'm using Swiftwick Aspire Zero's, but I might try out the Twelve's for calf coverage on lifting days. They're expensive socks, so if you're on a budget you might want to try another brand.

I dont wear the full sock, I use the calf sleeves. That way I dont have to worry about them wearing out in the toes.

This has me interested because I was under the impression that it was somewhat dangerous to wear compression socks while exercising. I have bad varicose veins that get worse with exercise. I wonder if I could wear compression socks to help them...

    Hmm.

I ordered mine direct from the company online. I have seen other brands in running stores, I think ****s Sporting Goods also has them.

I used them during and after a half marathon last month. I felt like that made a huge difference when I was recovering.

I have not used the long compression socks but the ones that go up to the ankles are great. I am on my feet all day and even wear them during work. The best ones I have had so far are the Power Sox brand. They seem to work wonders for my feet.

I swear by compression socks. Not the long ones but the ones over the ankle. It will make a difference in your running. That is only my testimonial.
  • I love my CEP compression socks! Pricey, but worth it if you are logging some serious miles. I tried them after my first half (Rock N Roll New Orleans) and they are awesome. I haven't noticed a difference though with my ankle injury, but I haven't been logging miles running lately. I have a torn ATFL so nothing is really going to make it feel great besides surgical repair. I have been banished to the spin bike and elliptical machine!

I don't know anything about compression socks for running, but am thinking this might be a good idea for me. I have some blood clotting conditions and have had a severe blood clot in my leg that caused permanent damage in those vessels. One of the reasons I am trying to be healthy is to make sure I never get a clot again. Are they the same ones that one would were for working long hours on their feet? I have those.
