Help with clothes

I really despair when it comes to shopping for clothes. I'm a big girl but it's not proportional. My tummy and bum is much bigger than it should be, but my "top half" isn't very big. Therefore, I have to buy tops and dresses to accommodate my tummy, but that means that it's loose on top. Doing it the other way round means that clothes fit my top part but tight on my tummy which I definitely don't want.
Can anyone else relate in this way?

I can relate in that I am the other way round. I'm bigger on top and smaller on the bottom. If I get things to fit my waist then it's way too big on my bottom. Finding shirts that fit around the boob and belly area is frustrating too.0

I use to have this problem as well. in fact my thighs are still the biggest part of my body. I always found that getting the A frame look (shirts that are tapered in and show of the smaller top) and sorta flare out at the stomach are good for showing what you have yet hiding what you don't want showing.
try the same for dresses (the A look)
. I also find that wearing my jeans at the hips look good with those types of shirts, you can let the belly hang over (muffin top) and it not show, I always have long flare jeans that are slimming in the thighs and get loose at the knee level. this helps to elongate the legs and make you look evened out.
Hope this helps.. Don't give up on what you want to achieve for yourself, you will get there and it will feel amazing!!0 -
Thanks for the support, good to know I'm not alone where that counts. I'm aiming to do more exercises good for trimming the tummy and bum as those areas need the most work. x0

Try to find a tailor for clothing. Is there one at your mall? Otherwise you could google it, they are not as expensive as some people think. Also getting clothes that are a good fit look so much better!!0

Hi - I have been a "What Not To Wear" fanatic for years - I'm so fascinated by how they can make everyone's disproportionate shapes look balanced and pretty. What I took most from that show is to 'tailor, tailor, tailor!!' They say everyone should have a good tailor, and to not expect things to fit off the rack! So I think what the experts would say about your situation (which also happens to be mine!) is to buy A-line tops (as mentioned by someone else) that flow over your tummy and don't show any bulges, then if the tops are too big on the top....go get them tailored! to fit the shoulders and bust area better. Then the shirt will flatter your shoulders and "the girls", and just fall over your stomach without calling attention to it. Hope that helps - I know I'm NEVER comfortable no matter how nice the top is if it feels tight at all in the tummy and, god forbid, hugs my roll(s). Good Luck!0
