Hi all I have come along to MFP to see if it might help me lose a few lbs.
I have successfully lost with SW & WW in the past but cannot get my head into gear at the moment. I run regularly & starting to cycle a bit more. I'm also conscious I don't do any core / strength training is the are also on my radar and again hope using this site might encourage me to start.
Is most foods in the database? I've not calorie counted in too many years to remember so I'm hoping it will do the hard work for me if I just weigh & measure.
Thanks & look forward to some chats in the future

Hi,
Welcome to MFP! You've come to the right place for encouragement and motivation, Ive been here a couple of months and everyone is wonderful and you can get great advice.
From what I have seen so far, MFP has most foods in their database, I only struggle to find 'new' products occassionally but its not been much of a problem, they get added soon enough.

To tell you the truth, I've never ever looked at the labels on food to find out what calories it contains, this site does the work fo me (you can scan barcodes) or just type in what you ate, or going to eat, and it gives you options with all the details.
MFP has made me so much more aware! Hope you enjoy it here.

Welome, Three weeks in and I am loving it, some good tips that may help.
1. Log everything, Its amazing how many cals there are in energy / recovery drinks you think help you stay fit.
2. Be motivated by the amout of cals you burn when exercising. I look at it as say a 15mile bike ride will give me an extra 900 cals.
3. Let people know you are doing it and post your results to a social network such as Facebook. Then you feel less tempted to cheat.
Good luck0 -
thanks for the welcome guys & gals :-) I have just had a monster salad at lunch think I'll have burnt off more calories eating the darn thing, lol.
I am liking what I see so far, love that I can add my food/drinks in I'm planning so I know whats left. I have a habit of not eating enough especially with the exercise. I'm hoping this will show me the error of my ways, either in the things I think are not bad actually are or that I need to have a bit more now and again.
looking at peoples tickers seems this does indeed work.
I'll brave FB posting eventually (maybe)0
