We have like 5 close friends that are all on it. They have each lost thirty pounds or more. It is safe. They get their nutrients and all. And exercise. well, anyone here have any input. Because its expensive and my hubby and I want to do it though. I have seen it for sale on Ebay for cheaper. So we are thinking of doing that. But what do u think of it?

I have a friend that has been on it the last couple of months and has had a lot of success. It is easy to look at her and think how easy it would be to go onto medifast to lose the weight. I am always reluctant though because:
1. What happens when you stop following the plan (not drinking the shakes, eating their snacks, etc). Are you going to gain all of the weight back?
2. My friend has lost a lot of weight in a short amount of time; how can that be healthy? I've always heard 2 lbs a week is max for losing it the healthy way. She is losing on average 5 lbs a week!
3. You aren't learning how to eat "smart"
4. Wouldn't you get bored with the food / shakes? She drinks like 4-5 shakes a day I believe
5. Then the cost of it
Like I said I see her going from a size 20 to a size 12 in a matter of a few months is extremely tempting to jump on. But I have to think long term is that going to be a successful way to lose the weight and keep it off. I think the best thing is eating healthy / staying within your proper calorie range / fat / etc, and working out.
Some others on here may have a difference of opinion and have had great long term success. This is just my 2 cents.0 -
I doubt I could stick with eating mostly shakes.
I did a little lookie loo about this and it seems this diet really works.... but you have to be diligent about not going berserk and overeating again once the diet is over. It may be good for people who are seriously overweight and could use a big jumpstart to getting down the major pounds.

Just my two cents worth! :flowerforyou: :drinker:0 -
I would have to say no. Don't do it. For the main reason once you start eating again you could put it back on. And really you aren't learning how to eat and deal with everyday situtations by drinking most of your calories. Just my 2 cents.
Ps. It didn't take u a few months to put the weight on you need to be prepared for it to take a while for it to come off once you have your mind set on it being a journey it will start falling off. Trust me on that one.0 -
There are times when such an intervention might be necessary for someone who is morbidly obese. However almost any study I have ever seen has shown that this type of weight-loss plan has a 95%+ long-term failure rate. The success of any plan cannot be measured in how much weight you lose--it's how much you lose *permanently*.
One of the biggest mistakes that people make is to look at themselves or someone else and conclude, based on several weeks or several months results, that what they are doing is "successful".0
