Guilt Free Banana Soft Serve Ice Cream

I'm about to blow your mind.

Take a banana and stick in the freezer. Once it's frozen, throw it a food processor until smooth. Then enjoy. It will be the texture and taste of soft serve ice cream - I promise!

You can also add things: peanut butter, almond butter, shredded coconut, etc.

Note, you will NOT have the same results with a blender. But investing in a food processor for this recipe may be worth it.

  • OMG... consider my mind blown!

I happened to have a frozen banana chunks in the freezer because Nigella Lawson said they were good for making milkshakes...

I totally didn't think it would work but i thought i would try it anyway... so in the food processor with my bananas... and it didn't seem quite right so I added 15ml of non ft milk and HOLY MOLEY... i was heaven in a bowl!

    THANK YOU

    :)

OOOHHH EMMMM GEEEEE!!!! this is awesome, fantastic, fabulous, ingredible, etc. etc. etc!!! I was skeptical, I admit- but this fulfills my cravings like nothing else. It amazes me how a simple banana can transform! My favorite so far is adding a tsp of peanut butter. Going to try topping with coconut next! Thank you for sharing this!

Stupid question. Do you peel the banana before placing it in the freezer?

I kind of did that with Nutella (not quite as healthy but still fairly low in calories and great in flavor).

Yes, i tried putting the banana in the freezer with the peel on and i had to thaw it half way just to get the peel off.

LOVE bananas and adding extra fruits after the blend i think would make it a-ma-zing! not that peanut butter/chocolate/nutella isnt as equally scrumptious! cant wait to give it a whirl!

It's true - whoever figured this out is genius! I know I have this at least 2 or 3 times a week! Whenever you see 2 bananas and 1T PB2 in my evening snack section of my Food Diary, that's what I am having. It is AMAZING (and I think much more filling than ice cream, or sorbet...) Try it - you will be amazed!!!!!!
  • It also works well with frozen mango (on its own)

Frozen berries are also good, but need half a banana to get the texture right.
