Just Starting out and probably needing support

This is my first time trying anything like this before. My sister is the one that turned me on to the sight she said it's great for helping a person stay motivated and on the right track. I sure hope she's right. I have about 80 pounds or so to lose. I've tried "dieting" before and i usually start off good but by about week thee I find myself falling off track and before I even realized it I've given up. I'm one of those people who can find an excuse not to start something like this easily. I'm hoping to find enough support that I can get that kick in the butt I need when I start making excuses.

I also, thanks in part to my husband, have fallen into the trap of I've worked all day and dont feel like doing anything including cooking so we end up going out almost every night a week. I loath cooking so once again I can come up with any excuse to not cook or just buy those quick easy microwave meals. If I could find some (to start of with) easy dinners that are healthy that would probably help to. I'm going to (at the suggestion of my sister) start making a menu each week so I can plan things out.

Well I think thats enough rambeling for now. Any support or tips or little kicks in the butt would be helpful.

Exercise...it adds extra cals to your daily caloric intake so you can eat a bit more and you are getting in shape. Also, start slowly and start weening off certain things such as maybe give yourself one cheat day...so whatever foods that are bad for you have that one specific day and eat well the remainder of the days. Also, reflect on any bad things you can give up such as soda or what not. Again baby steps not saying go cold turkey. I started this year with 1 1/2 cheat days to 1 cheat day to a cheat meal a week and I barely do that now; also, I weened myself of diet soda and upped my water intake. Sorry this is a lot but hope it helps.

Ok sorry about that...my message got sent by accident before I was finished, lol. So, I am fairly new to the site as well and I am very much of an inconsistent person. I have been trying a lot of different things this time to stay focused and keep me on track towards my goal. So far, the exercise bit is pretty decent, but I am still working on the whole nutrition aspect of things. Hopefully myfitness really works for me. I hope for you as well. :)

I agree that it doesn't need to be all or nothing! For me, I am steadily (slowly!) losing weight, but I also have plenty of yummy food! I am not under my calorie goal every day, but I am at least being aware and tracking, and not just throwing my hands in the air and eating a whole pizza.

Also- cook a bunch on Sunday afternoon. I at least prep a bunch of veggies, wash and chop them. I try to also make a few salads or coleslaw,e to, to have ready as healthy side dishes for the week. And, I make a big batch of soup every week or 2 and freeze individual portions so that on nights we are fried, I can defrost a couple servings with no cooking!

Some easy meals we do: cheesy chippy beans (tostada shell, half a cup black beans, ounce of shredded cheese, microwave it. Top with lettuce, salsa, and wholy guacamole), beans and rice (I make big pots of beans and rice for the week so they are in the fridge whenever we need an easy healthy meal, I will top with whatever we have- salsa, enchilada sauce, curry sauce, guac), quinoa or brown rice salad- chopped up veggies tossed with already cooked quinoa or brown rice, with a lemon juice, olive oil, and salt and pepper dressing.

    Hope that helps a little!

Oh trust me it does help. Prepping some stuf on sunday is a good idea and making the soup and freezing it in portions equally good idea. If i have that stuff on hand I might be less likely to grab the keys and drive to the nearest restaurant with the hubby.
