Not new but back after a hiatus

Hi all
I was here for a while and lost 43 pounds! Then.....the holidays got here and I took a break! I thought I could just take a break for a short while and still maintain my weight or only gain a few. It worked for a while but the longer I stayed off it the more I gained. I haven't been on the calorie counting since November 2011! I've gained 20 pounds back!
Today is the day I'm starting where I left off. This time my goal is to get where I need to be which is 100 pounds from where I am today and I need to get there by the time I graduate from college in January so there will be NO MORE BREAKS! Problem is....I need friends and encouragement.
Honestly, what I really need is somebody to compete with. I'm a competitive person. I have to have somebody I can watch their weight loss while tracking my weight loss so that I can push myself to get there quicker (and safer) so that I can reach my goal. So if you are a competitive person, need to lose 100 pounds and are serious about it please add me. If you want to be the person to encourage me to get to that 100 pounds before the next person I'm all for those friends too.

Welcome back! It is good to see a member who is also a returning member........
I too am back after some time away. It's funny, but I left MFP, and gained 20 lbs. When I logged back in and realized how much I had gained back, I left again, and would not return until I was where I left off....talk about denial! I just did not want to do a check-in that showed such a big gain. I am here now though. I am 5'11', and currently weigh 205.4 pounds.
My plan for June is to walk 100 miles. That challenge on here gave me success before, so why not give it another go, eh.... I am hoping that someone starts a 100 miles in June challenge...that sure brings out the competitive side of me, maybe you could join something like that too
So I will be using my iphone to track outside walks, and logging treadmill miles as well. That is my plan.
For the remainder of May, I am just going to fiddle around with some Zumba on the XBox, and maybe a Leslie Sansome DVD.
Good luck,

Hi Kelly,
I wasn't in denial but I did have a hard time coming back. I knew I had gained weight. It was inevitable. But I couldn't get started and stay motivated. The other morning when I put my pants on to go to work they were extremely tight and gave me what my husband calls "moose knuckles". I hated it! And as uncomfortable as they were I wore them all day, with a shirt to cover my "moose knuckles"! I figured with the pants as tight as they were and as uncomfortable as they were that should be motivation enough to get me started it again.
When I was on here before I had a friend at work that helped me out with the competition part and it was great! I constantly stayed ahead of that friend and was motivated to keep going. I got to 43 pounds lost knowing I had to loose more to get to my goal of 130 lbs. But the holidays were upon us, so I stopped. Originally it was only to get through Thanksgiving, and then I was suppose to get back on it. However, I started the baking process for Christmas (which I NEVER do). So then of course I had to join a cookie exchange. And then...I had to try all those cookies I've never had before! ugggghhhhhh!!!!! So Christmas came and went and I was suppose to start back up after the new year. I tried! Really I did! Then I tried again in February, March and April and several times in May. The other day was the final straw! I knew I had to do it! I texted my husband from work and told him I had the dreaded "moose knuckles" and that my pants were totally uncomfortable. He agreed it was time to get back on it. (He lost 64 pounds in NO time, half the time as me to be exact, using MFP). So here I am! Back on it and going strong for 2 days in a row!
I'm proud of myself and I know that today at work I've burned a ton of calories and some that are not even accounted for!
