What's going on, I've lost 36lb (16kg) but I can hardly notice a difference in my measurements, could it be because I am very tall?. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

Same problem here. It seems that the bigger you are the more weight you have to lose to notice. I didn't notice until I was at the 50 lb mark and thats also when others noticed. Just my experience.

it might be because you are turning fat into lean muscle it works diffently for men and women women turn fat into lean muscle where men loss pounds and inches before turning fat to muscle

If that were the case they would definitely be losing inches.

It could also be where you are holding the tape measure. If you aren't in EXACTLY the same spot the measurements could be a little off, and when your taller for example your waist tends to be longer giving more room for error in where the tape measure is...if that makes sense.

For example, I'm 5'3"ish and its very obvious where my waist is because there isn't much distance between the bottom of my rib cage and the top of my hips. If you added 4 inches to me there would be a bigger distance between the ribs and hips meaning more space to put the tape measure.

I typically measure 2 inches up from my belly button for my waist, 5 inches down from my knee for my calf, etc. By setting a more exact place to measure you get more accurate feedback.

    Good luck! :)

Interesting article... And along the lines of what I was thinking too. You are probably losing the internal fat first. Which improves your health immensely. Keep at it and the inches will follow! Congrats on your 36lbs!! =)

I understand your frustration. I haven't had much change in my measurements in over a month. In my case, I think that I didn't do my measurements quite right...so I have to wait a little longer for the measuring tape to show progress. However, I have seen a picture of myself in the same outfit about 6 weeks apart, and there is DEFINITELY a visible change.

If you are losing it in a thin layer from everywhere it may make it more difficult to see the result you want on the tape measure but it'll still be going.

Hey thanks for sharing everyone, your comments have helped me understand things are at work (internally) even if I don't notice it externally just yet..

I know how you feel. I have lost 11kg, took my measurements and no change even though I have dropped a size in the last 4 weeks, starting to get a lot of comments on my weight loss and today I was having to pull my pants up at the gym so something is working somewhere.

Yep, I've lost 10lbs but no inches. Looking forward to finally dropping a damn dress size.

Wouldn't it be awesome if it was all happening inside and getting us super healthy and fit, and then suddenly the inches just catch up giving us a massive tape measure loss quickly! Can only hope.
