A hat for running?

I'm not enjoying the amount of sun I'm getting while running. I always wear sunscreen on my face, but I still am getting splotchy sun spotted skin. I haven't tried wearing a hat because of the extra heat. Does anyone run with a hat? Do you have a recommendation on one?

I do, but I don't run with anything special. Just a TN hat I've had for a long time :)

When I run in the sun I wear either a bandana or a breathable cap from a running store.

I almost always wear a baseball hat when I run - just tuck my bangs back into it and pull my pony tail through the back. The one I currently use is just a normal cap but I'll be getting a wicking one in about a month (as part of the packet for my next 5k).

I wear a running visor (which you can probably barely make out in my profile pic) for every daytime run. I'd feel like a total loser wearing a visor at any other time, but it keeps the sun off my face & my head free to cool itself uncovered. My preferred visor is the RRS Super Visor at RoadRunnerSports.com - it's super comfy elastic; tight enough to stay put, but not too tight so that you notice it's there (and no adjustments needed nor anything to chafe you). It's got a CoolMax terry sweatband at the forehead & is completely machine washable... totally my BFF for all my runs! Here's a link to it:

If you'd prefer it without the RRS logo, here's the company that actually makes the hat for RRS; you can buy direct from them, but notice it will have their logo on it somewhere, too, just usually on the side, rather than front & centre.

    Happy running!!!

I wear one of those breathable running hats.. mine are both from Brooks... They are vented to keep your head cool but protect it from the sun. I pull my ponytail/braid out the back.

Thanks! I always wear a visor when golfing so not sure why I didn't think of that LOL.

I found a duck bill, neck shade "Laurence of Arabia" hat at a sporting good store. I am old, bald, very fair skinned but smiling. I am everybody's visual entertainment while out in this hat....but I never wear it to WalMart!

What? I am never going to be Brad Pitt/Fabio again, so I march to the beat of my own drummer (but badly sometimes...I have no rhythm either!).

ditto the visor from Roadrunner.. it was pretty cheap and I use it for every run. It keeps my short hair in order and the sweat off my face. My head always feels cool (now do I look cool? Probably not, but oh well.... ;)).

I wear a breathable running hat with my running clubs logo. I'm wearing it in my profile pic. I cannot stand NOT wearing it I've used it for so long. That goes for summer or winter. It does a gOod job keeping the sun out of your face.
