Hey everyone, I have a Polar FT4 (well, I'm on my 2nd one) and I'm having a lot of trouble with it malfunctioning. The last 2 times I worked out it was acting very irregular and wacky. It would skip my heart rate up to 215 and then down in hte 30's and then just lose all signal. All while in the middle of my jog. Could it possibly be a low battery problem or do you think something is faulty in it? If it were the battery would I just get a low battery signal?? Any help or suggestions is appreciated! Thanks!

My FT4 is fairly new, so I haven't run into this. But if it were me, I'd try a new battery first and see if that fixes it. I hope that's all it is!

I just had this happen and got a new battery for the transmitter and it still didn't help. I just sent mine into Polar for repairs...from what I can tell if you have washed the strap regularly, wet it down before you put it on, and have the strap tight, its probably malfunctioning sadly.

I am having same issue with mine. I make sure to wash strap and clean it, but the past 2 weeks it has been on the fritz. I think it is time to call company.

I have found that if I adjust the watch or strap it corrects itself. It is as if it is not totally on right so it's getting mixed readings. It's such a pain though.

I did contact company and they are sending me a new strap. They think it is the problem. Lets hope this work.
  • I just got one and used it for the first time today. No problems yet, but glad I saw this thread in case I run into it.

Sounds like your strap is malfunctioning or you aren't washing it enough. It really needs to be washed every third time worn. If I wash it once a week (as suggested) I find that I get that a lot. Every 3rd workout has been the magic number for me.

Is the strap tight enough, I know when mine gets loose the connection isn't as good or it stops working completely.
