Hello, Everyone!

lostweight.jpg
TAKE PRIDE IN HOW FAR YOU HAVE COME AND HAVE FAITH IN HOW FAR YOU CAN GO!

Anyone is welcome to join in at any time. We began this thread back in January looking for new friends to share our journey with. Today we begin our 36th week!! If your looking for support buddies that are in this for the long haul... join us!! We love new faces! Introduce yourself and say hi to the thread.

We are here for anyone to post or suggest ideas or “throw down” challenges – whatever you want to do. Some of us are posting our weight losses, or measuring and posting our inches lost, or posting our exercise or food ideas, but we all share a desire to be available for each other to talk and exchange ideas.

Well, I have absolutely no idea how but I lost 3 pounds this week. I guess less exercise and eating out every day works well for me. I'm really not complaining, but seriously, I ate like 1700 calories Sunday because my bf and I went to our fav. Mexican restaurant (yay sodium!), then I ate at Subway on the road for work on Monday, I had 2 slices of pizza on both Tuesday & Wednesday, and I had Thai food yesterday. I only had time to exercise Friday-Sunday & last night. And although I stayed around 1200-1300 calories each day other than Sunday, I'm still really shocked I lost anything, especially more than I've lost every other week since my first week!

Only 3.2 pounds until I meet my Halloween goal. :drinker:

Hey gang. I lost just enough ounces to get me below 157!! I'm so happy. It's not much but I'm below it. So exciting. I've lost one inch off of my legs. I know I posted the other day saying that it hadn't changed but when I took out my records I was off by a number so I really did lose an inch when I thought I stayed the same yet another month. I'm doing good. It's nice to not have the leg rub anymore when I walk. I hope everyone is doing good and had a good weigh in day. I look forward to seeing some numbers drop... later all

yeah, I think more came off... just too close to TOM to tell. Today I had the munchies but did pretty good anyway. Didnt overdo it.. no sweets or super salty food. I met a very nice lady from craigslist that donated a HUGE kitten playpen to my rescued cat family cause.. I just wanna make sure that nothing happens like what happened with opa... and man this thing is big. My cousin came to spend the weekend with me and we made "cat hammocks" and homemade kitten toys for the kitty playpen. The sewing/crafting kept my brains & hands busy and now the cage looks great! We did a little shopping too.. so I got some walking in, but prolly not enough to count twards burning any major calories...:ohwell:

Hubby came home this afternoon. Thought he would be gone another week but guess he is ready to go off on his own now. So, they have him home for a week, then he goes to Oakland, CA for a few days. After that...it looks like mid November sometime he will be gone for a few days. Otherwise he gets to work remotely from home. :0)

Wow!! I Haven't posted for a few days now. Everyone's doing great! Congratulations to you all!!! flowerforyou drinker

Well, my week was just a disaster. Overeating and indulging myself with chips and sweets without exercising it off. noway I'm really down right now because I feel that I'm going back to my old habits and gaining back the weight I lost grumble I really have to quit cold turkey on junk food. Moderation, for me, was not the key. Portion control was not a problem back then, but now??! i don't know.. frown

But I'm really glad to hear everyone's doing great! wink

Etey, Turn that  upside down  Just by aknowledging the issue you are doing a good thing. We all have our moments and recognizing them is key to future success, so just get yourself back on track and moving in the right direction again. For now, Do your YOU turn and tell yourself that you can only move forward from here. It is OK to have treats once in a while.. there is nothing fun about depriving yourself. I find when i tell myself that "i cant" have some special treat.. a few days later it makes the craving even worst. I aim more for nutrition now than anything, which helps me avoid the sweets & chips.. but if I must have something..then I try to find a healthy alternative.. like popcorn instead of chips or fat free chocolate pudding instead of ice cream. Make sure you are eating enough also. If your not, your more prone to eating too much of the wrong thing and if the portions were not an issue before and they are now.... it could be your bodys way of saying "HEY!! Im hungry!!! Feed me!"

    stillkristi - no change

    Holiday challenge, goal = - 30 lbs.
actual loss to date = 12.5 lbs

Hi gang, I got back a while ago from being out of town again this weekend. Think I will be home for a while - I am broke! Hey, however, I am pleased to report the eating and exercising are still on track. I am not much worried about the no change this week - because the last two weeks have been such high loss weeks I suspected I was getting the benefit of that old 5 lb swing. So, this is prolly more realistic. I decided to change my ticker to reflect my highest weight back in 2008 which I found in an online website. Think I mentioned it last week? Anyway, thats why the numbers are different, even though the scale doesn't reflect any loss this week. Hope everyone is hanging in there and being motivated for the holiday challenge!

    Back from travel!
I went to a friends wedding in Fl over the weekend. It was wonderful and fun. We all dressed up in holloween costumes! Rachel (the bride) wore a beautiful mideval style dress and her husband wore a kilt and the appropriate accesseries.

Any how I still lost my 1lbs, which is good considering all the things: travel, cake and alcahol that were available.

    so here it is
    SW 198, GW135 CW 170= 1lbs loss

Have a great week. I get toady off so I'm going to a yoga class at the Y.

Morning team. I hope everyone is having a great Monday morning (is that possible?) Anyway, I am running a little behind, so just a quick check in before exercising. I started my blog again, I think it really helps keep me grounded. I also updated my profile with my highest weight ever. Thanks to those of you who have posted encouragement there - it means a great deal! You gals rock. Here is a link to my blog. Not a big deal, but in case you are bored..... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/stillkristi/view/what-i-did-on-my-summer-vacation-12016

Sorry I've been AWOL girls ~ had a weird "feeling cruddy" kinda weekend. Screaming headache and just didn't really move off the bed, couch or recliner ~ Better today, but not quite up to par. Anyhow ~ I'm still flat on the weight loss. Acutally 2 pounds up, but I think it's still just fluid. :frown:

Everybody have a great week ~

You people are really the ones that make this site awesome! There's no way for me to reach you and thank you all personally but let me show my gratitude by working hard and eating right

stillkristi your blog was such an inspiration! Thanks! it's just what i need.

    Everyone have a great week!

    Group hug!!!!!! LOL
  • Morning all. I keep thinking that my check in is a little off. I say this because when I weighed myself I was in a pair of soaked jeans, it was raining that day. I wear boots but I know how much they weigh so I subtract that from the scale and I get my weight. But I was pretty good last week, I was really on top of things. I weighed myself yesterday in dry jeans and it was a one pound loss from last week... but I can't count it since it's not on my check in day. But it does kinda make me feel better. I need to find a belt... I can slip my jeans on and off with out undoing them. Kinda annoying when your trying to walk dogs and hold your pants up at the same time lol. But I don't want to buy anymore because if I keep losing then it'll be a waste of money lol. I look forward to Fridays now. I love checking in and seeing the numbers... even if there is a slight gain, because I know that even with a slight gain I'm much better now then where I was a few months ago.

lulubar--I understand that feeling. I kinda had that feeling the past couple days but mine is more my living situation and other things that are going on in life right now. I hope you feel better and get back to loosing.

stillkristi--Good blog. I like how you stated that it's not a diet. Because it's not. It's a life style change and you preach it girl. I'm glad that you saw what was going on and you changed it. Good for you.

nitag--I hope everything gets figured out with your dad. That must be hard with him going through surgery. Hang in there, everything will work out.

manda1111--Glad you had fun at your friends wedding. Sounds pretty cool.

etey7--We all struggle. We all give in sometimes, and go a little out and indulge in sweets. You are allowed to have sweets here and there and in amounts that work for you. But remember that was last week, this is a new week. Part of this life change that your committing to by being here is that you need to find out how you can control it. You have to find out which way works for you so that you can still enjoy good things.... use them as a reward but in small amounts... I dunno... I don't buy chips and sweets anymore as much as I use to. If I want sweets, I get up and walk to the Walgreens two blocks over. But don't get down on yourself... you have to stay positive.

LosingIt4good--I love the cat cage. It's cute. The hammocks look good too. Glad that you found something to keep you busy.

Well...the little one is up now so I must go. I'll try and get through the rest of my missed posts later...
    Have a great day everyone.

Back to check in ~ Ate well today. Drank well. Still have a nagging headache:ohwell: I think it's all allergies, so I started some claritin today ~ we'll see if that helps. I'm leaving Thursday for three days out of town - going to the beach, staying at the casino resort ~ getting pampered and playing and spending some good quality time with hubby:love: Can't wait - SO I really really need to get rid of this headache! heehee.

Thanks for the encouragement and kind words ~ I LOVE you guys! Don't know how I'd make this journey without you!

    Talk to you later

  • Checking in - Happy Thanksgiving to the Canadian members of the team...I really tried to behave myself this year. I feel pretty good after 2 turkey dinners. Only 1 piece of pumpkin pie Sunday and one Monday. Hubby is a great help in this too.

Went to the gym 2 days this week already. Working on week 4 of C25K. Did 60 minutes on the treadmill = 600 calories. Had to gulp lots of water to get it all in today. Slosh, slosh!

Lulubar - hope the headache leaves in time

    Stillkristi - you go girl!
  • Ok guys if took me way to long to figure out that it was Thanksgiving in Canada.. I kept reading stuff on Facebook about it but didn't put two and two together.... duh...

Have fun getting pampered Lulu-- just be careful with the food... those places have lots and lots of tempting food! !

healthymom2009--way to go on the treadmill girl. Burn those calories and get that heart rate up ! !

Good evening everyone ... I know I've been MIA for quite a while ... like some of you I have also been going through a tough time of it... I think I need that slipper... oh wait.. you better make it a steel toed boot!! I didn't even weigh in last Friday because I know I'm up a couple pounds and didn't want to actually see it. Between kids birthdays and Thanksgiving I did not watch what I was eating... also I haven't been drinking my water or doing any exercising besides all the cooking and cleaning I was doing. I'm still not motivated enough to get right back at it... today was the first day that I actually ate right and drank some water... I'm hoping to be right back on track by the weekend... but the way things have been I''m not sure if that will happen.... like I said I really need someone to kick my butt with that boot... the slipper is way to soft!!

Once again, yesterday went by and all I managed was logging exercise and food. Wow, I love my work, but geesh - it seems to be in the way of my life sometimes! Well, gotta go exercise. Take care all.

Well, I ate breakfast right this morning, some Nutrigrain waffles. Then for lunch had a starbucks vanilla latte, and a scone and a bagel. So thinking I'm probably over calories already... but the positive note is, at least it wasn't candy and ice cream, it was real food, even if not the best food. Sigh. Going to losingit's tonight for a wine and cheese party, and plan on having some wine too. Will just do better the rest of the day and eat apples for snacks and maybe just a salad for dinner so I can make up for some of the calories (haven't logged yet, so not sure how bad it is). Have to drink my water yet though.

I got a kitten a while back, and last night she was sleeping on me while I was watching tv. I told her it's time for bed cat, and she jumped down, went into the laundry room and went into her bed. !?!? That cat thinks she's a dog, I swear. Really made me laugh that she did that. What a goofus, it's certainly my cat, personality wise that is! LOL

Challenge for those struggling or just starting out: will also post on tomorrow's, but start today:
    1. Log all your food. Even if you are way over calories, LOG IT.
    2. Drink all your water. Start out with 1/3 of it in the a.m.,, 1/3 in afternoon, and 1/3 in evening before dinner. See if that timing works for you and helps you remember to do it.

Challenge for those who are doing ok or have been doing this awhile:
    1. The above two steps, if you aren't being faithful about it.
    2. Reset your goals in MFP for food, make sure that your calorie intake is right with your current weight.
    3. Eat an extra serving of greens every day this week. Cut out a fruit if you eat lots of fruit to make up for it, or some carbs.

    Hi all,
Doing great today! It's chilly and rainy here (90 & sunny last week, 50 and rainy this week. Gotta love autumn in SC) so I made an altered version of a stew/soup I saw on 30 Minute Meals yesterday. It's AWESOME and only 250 calories for a huge serving (about 2 cups). I haven't been eating much bread lately so I paired the soup with some ciabatta bread and I was in heaven. I can hardly wait for dinner now.

I made up a lower-calorie recipe for pumpkin cheesecake yesterday and it's really amazing. I have an idea that will lower the calories even more, but this pie has 195 calories/slice (slice is 1/12 of a 9 inch cheesecake) and it's so worth every calorie. I think I'm going to enjoy experimenting to lower the calories.

I just burned about 900 calories with my workout -- stationary bicycle & 30 day shred. I love love love 30 day shred & it's free on Exercise TV On Demand. I'm not expecting a big number for weigh-in tomorrow. I ate some things I shouldn't this weekend and slacked off on exercise since my bf's mom was staying with us plus TOM is visiting. As long as I don't gain I'll be happy.
  • lorann - welcome back. this journey is all about your desire for change - lifestyle, thinking, actions. You've lost a fair amount of weight - I too struggle with staying on track when I see so much progress already. I decided I wouldn't be satisfied until I reached my goal. Then I could say "I'm done for good." Not, "I'll lose the rest later." That's what got me in this situation:grumble: Carry on my girl!:flowerforyou:

adopt4 - I keep my water bottle handy and can't start eating my next meal until I empty it first (and refill for later of course). Way to go on the goal setting...sounds good.

jlb123 - Awesome calorie burn. Go baby! Keep up the exercise and the scale will catch up. Your body will show your hard work soon. I recently had to move my workouts indoors because it was too dark and cold after supper. Kind of depressing but am focussed on my c25k so its OK.

Working on week 4 and couldn't finish the run today. Guess I will be repeating this week until I gain a little more endurance. Burned 400 calories at least. Saturday is my next run day.

See everyone at weigh in tomorrow!
