Running and struggling with food

Hi all,

I need some pointers. I am increasing my mileage for running because I am training for a half and a relay. I am right around 35-ish miles/week and I am constantly hungry. How do you adjust your settings in MFP to reflect the added demands for nutrition? I don't want to plateau, but I am more concerned with undereating and ending up tired all the time. I want to be appropriately fueling my body for the demands that I am placing on it right now, and also not overeat. Ideas? Thanks!

  • If you log the running as cardio, mfp will automatically give you more calories to eat. I love my running days. I get to eat all day and still end up under my goal!

Pre-log your training runs so you know in advance about how many calories you have to work with -- this way you can spread out the extra calories over the course of the day instead of trying to force them in at the end.

Awesome jgic! That is what I need to do, or else I am left wondering how to scarf some 500 calories at 9 p.m. on a weekday! Great advice.
