Fruit smoothie with flax seed

I have started mixed 2 tbs of organic ground flax seed to my fruit smoothies and using coconut milk or almond milk. Both are soy and dairy free and it tastes great no matter what fruit you choose to use. The flax seed seems to be more filling in the smoothie. One tip though I found putting in the milk first followed by flax seed then the fruits on top before blending well will help mix the seed in better and it won't be gritty. Dr. Oz recommends adding at least 2 tsp each day to food. So far I have seen it have advantages so I'll keep using it. Go to your farmers market and it's very cheap! Get the ground up seed.

    I use flax oil from Trader Joe's in my smoothies. Do you happen to know what the difference is, if any?

    the seed has a lot of fiber in it. which is left behind when they extract the oil.
